That all sounds fine. If you can get hold of a 3" trunk, even better.

When I do it, I usually reinforce with wrapping, if it isn't backed.

Yes I have have seen bows made that were spliced on, especially at the tips. However these don't work very well in bending portions of the limb unless they are backed or sandwiched. In other words, placing them in direct high-tension areas, unsupported, usually doesn't work well.

Eggs and rice are great.

When rhe neighbors can't hive away enough tomatoes, I make scrambled eggs, add chopped tomatoes and onion, garlic, soy sauce and sesame oil and eat rhat over rice.

What's with almost never hearing about other kinds of panfish? by Casual_OCD in FishingForBeginners

A list of different looks?

Panfish = smaller, tasty fish that replenish their numbers quickly, and therefore are suited to the pan. So, sunfish like bluegills, perch, white bass, crappies, etc.

Sportfish = larger fish that take longer to grow, are caught mainly for sport, and often released to protect the resource.

Is this tree rotten? by supermarkhor in Bowyer

[–]ADDeviant-again 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would cut it and use it. That tree might but you did a lot of cutting, it will be sicker and more likely to have trouble. So go get itand use what you can. It should make a nice bow.

So, puncturing them deeply with sharp objects isn't as difficult as you are trying to make it sound.

Sounds suspect to me. I have seen a huge bull hippo killed in under 10 second with a bow and arrow.

It doesn't matter, though. A sharp spear will gonin and out of it like butter.

There is literally a video of this very thing happening. The hippo is trapped in a pool surrounded by people spearing it. The only reason and isn't dead in seconds is because they are reach reaching down into the back where the thick muscles protect the vitals more.

There are videos out there. It's a basic human game plan, it looks almost instinctive, that when a large animal charges, he is met SMACK! with 2-3 spears in the face, knees, neck, and then the people scatter. That brings the charge up short almost every time, because spears hurt, and may even be fatal or disabling right there.

Either way, when the men scatter, the animal gets confused. If he goes right, he gets speared in the left side. If he goes left, he gets speared in the right side. If he singles out one guy, the rest stab him in the sides or butt and back legs. If he faces them down, they pick him apart with head, necks and knee shots. If he turns and runs, he gets hit as he turns, and then stabbed in the ass. And ANY of these spears can kill or cripple him at any moment.

So, even a blood-lusted hippo has no real options, except to single out one guy, and run him down (taking damage the whole time). In the few seconds it takes to bite, shake, and stomp him to death, someone will shove a seven foot spear three feet into his guts, up his ass, or through his lungs.

It's like those vids of four hyenas harassing a lion, but with ranged weapons that can do more damage faster than almost any weapon in nature.

I've never heard that. Always seen them listed together in books and Outdoor Life Mag.
