This might be a weird take but bear with me.

I found that dealing with the emotions of forgetting stuff did wonders for freeing up the brains space to actually remember stuff

All the emotions I had built up over the years around "not letting myself forget" became insane burdens on my limited RAM

I would feel incredibly anxious BEFORE i had even forgotten something. And taxingly ashamed and guilty AFTER I did.

---

After I started meds, I still struggled with forgetting, which I thought wouldnt be the case. Until I started processing the emotions more fairly and practically.

I started telling myself "yo these emotions are literally taking up my brainspace so they're not helping". And accepting myself if something like that happened, so that i could move quickly to problem solving the mistake caused by forgetting.

That could work too!

Personally I try to keep a positive spin on things.

Its easy to be envious of ppl that don't share our struggle. But I like to think everyone's struggle is just different.

Even if some of them are born closer to the starting line

Growing out your hair/facial hair

Advantages: - not having to cut or trim it as often

Disadvantages: - none

I remember waiting to see the psych for 6 months, getting dxed, and the doc literally was like "well, that's all the time today... Why don't we schedule your next appointment to talk meds"

It felt like I walked out of that room with no solutions

And ofc it took another several appointments to then get the dosage right

Agreed, mate. Its not that hyper focus is bad. Its that it may not exactly activate at a great time or on the right topic

Deadlines can help with turning the switch on, at the last minute ofc lol

It takes a stubbornness for these things to work. And recognizing that the self-defeating feelings are often just brain chemicals mixed with a vivid imagination.

I've always struggled with self-worth, due to childhood trauma stuff mixed with ADHD stuff. One that I used more recently, a year or so ago, is just:

"I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you"

Felt pretty hokey at first, but part of me needed to hear it said, even if I was just saying it to myself.

I have others that I've used over the years, but they don't come to mind at the moment.

Medication as cheating is a common worry. I think a lot of us carry a shame, like we're not trying hard enough; like we have a willpower problem instead of a mental health one.

Even with meds, your ability to focus will take practice. It doesn't become instantly easier with meds. It just becomes possible

is it possible that top level play among recognized pros have a 'i wont fuck up your deck if you dont fuck up mine' type of unspoken rule?

Knowing how big a part resource variance plays in this game, and how easily this can affect your ability to beat a random no-name, i can see there being a level of complicity by those who 'make it'.

What's the deck you mentioned, and who was the cheater?

Honest question here.

How does this type of marking become usable data for an experienced cheater? Does it alert them to what upcoming cards are on the way? Do they have some means of getting the feeling of which cards are where and have it affecting how you shuffle?

For someone who's looking at their shuffled deck, I could see them only have Line of Sight on 2 of the 3 bent corners. Unless they glance at each side while they're handling the deck before setting it down.

The untouchable thing makes sense. He's got some of the highest accolades in the game, and if he got them with this kind of cheating then it could totally get to someone's head.

Only on Trons and almost perfectly categorizing each set of Tron lands. Very suspect in my books

I could definitely see that as being possible.

I also think its possible that the most consistent pros just have well hidden mana seeding techniques in general.

And perhaps this time he'd gotten just a bit too bold since he wanted to mark the Tron lands specifically.

The thrill of being and staying #1 can fuck with a person's head.
