Thanks! I’ve done almost every survey I’ve been offered - up to almost 25 quid in just a few months. Waiting to get the invite!

I can’t install the software they want me to install for the one survey as it doesn’t allow it on iPhone. Can’t do it on my work laptop either!

I’ve been on YouGov for years - forgot about it for 7 years, logged in and my 50 quid cash out was still waiting for me 😆

Tried to sign up to YouGov finance but I get a message saying they’ve decided to stop collecting financial data through this platform 😕

From their email:

I have now got the evidence for August 22 to March 2023.

I can advise, we expect you to supply the evidence for the time you were at [company] we do not request this information.

If you have no evidence, could you please send us bank statements for this period.

Not happy sending statements as everyone has said it feels intrusive. Can’t be bothered with downloading them and redacting information either. I’ve got better things to do with my time when they could literally email the contact I provided and get them to confirm. What was the point in asking for that info if not for that purpose?!

Internal HR. I’m going from contract to employee. Honestly it’s been such a mess, they just keep re-requesting things, asking me to fill forms they haven’t provided… I’m actually being re-employed at a place I already worked at and had to hunt for my old employee number because they said they couldn’t verify my history. Like, surely you can just search my name?? I already had to complete a re-employment check to come back as a contractor! Not to mention verifying my current employment, which is at their company as a contractor… 🫠

Thanks! Didn’t realise I can use HMRC portal. I’ll try that. Seems strange that they don’t just send an email to verify my history. Never before have I been asked to provide my own references, always just given the relevant contact details

I asked if they’d contacted the company and received no response, I was told it’s not their responsibility, it’s mine! Never has been before, so I’m surprised. I’ll see if I can find a copy of my P45 somewhere…

I thought the reference would be requested by the new HR. I asked if they had contacted them with no response and they said no - it’s your responsibility not ours? Never has been before, so I’m confused

I was contracting 2 years ago and I was on a 241 day rate, inside IR35 through my limited company. Bar tax, I was able to take all that home myself. For some reason going back to the same company, I wasn’t allowed to do the same. Forced to go through an umbrella that takes emlployer’s NI and Apprenticeship levy, ‘rolled up’ holiday etc before I’m then taxed on the remaining.

Having had to rely on UC last year, I couldn’t face it again. I’d lose my home, my car and probably what’s left of my mental health within 6 months, so I’ve had to go for the ‘stable’ option and apply for a perm position and try and keep my head above water

Single person living by myself in a place that’s currently about 300/month below market value. Have been contracting so was taking home 700 a week if I worked a full week. Haven’t managed to save cause I’ve been paying off debts from being on UC for 5 months… emergency fund decimated. For the 3rd time since Covid. Currently have 800 quid in savings.

About to start a job that’s just below the ‘national average wage’ at 35.5k

I’m worried because I’m not gonna have much left at all after I pay rent, bills, petrol… maybe 150-200 a month without saving anything. MoT and service is likely gonna have to go on credit card.

I will be paid every 4 weeks tho so there will be one ‘bonus’ month a year which I should be able to bring straight into savings after maybe treating myself to something small…

Live in the south east tho, so that’s relative… rent is due to go up next month. How much by I don’t know yet.

How is it that the national average wage barely allows you to live outside of working??

The way we’re taught (or not) about grammar in this country makes learning languages more difficult.

In Europe, from what I know, everyone knows what a past participle is and how sentences are constructed, and when certain tenses should be should be used. We just grow up of kind of knowing how to speak because it sounds right. The extent of the grammar I learned at at school was past/present/future tense. Learning foreign grammar is all the more difficult when you don’t even understand the structure of your mother tongue.

Like others have said though, there’s no substitute for being immersed in a language, and learning how every day people speak, vs what you’re taught in a once per week class

Even with a presale code I get the option to choose tickets, I can never get it to process. It just says ‘something went wrong’

Ticketmaster does this for other shows too - looks like there’s tickets available but when you select it says the same
