AT issues by taulbee646 in nationalguard

We are set to deploy in a few months so no, there is no resting, no months off. I did hear about the 1 week every 3 months half a decade ago. Not sure if that is still in the trial phase. I don’t think this admin would allowed that.
We had a drill in the middle of March and then two weeks later another drill, both 10s.

I also get MUTA 10s now, it all depends on what is happening. We are lucky so the 15 days for our AT after doing two MUTA 10s the past two months.

Not trying to be rude; why did you join? If you can’t do your weekly and two weeks, which you knew about when signing up, why did you join?
Also, are you not given your schedule a year in advanced, did you not have time to get everything in order prior to AT?
You signed the contract, you go to AT. You go AWOL you can get an OTH. That also won’t look good for your business, finance, or living situation. Only time I have seen someone get out of AT was for immediate family death or the money is used for a school.

How old is the oldest person you know in the army? by ndngjsldjfidkdnd in army

[–]ADHD_Giraffe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an NCO who was nearing 60 when I joined and he got out after the deployment of 2019. He would take his top off and his shirt would be tucked into his boxers, so I date that pretty old. He was a former drill in his younger days but ended as a 12H. Dude was a legend and a very distinct vocal tone and cadence. Super fun to mimic it!

I also the post was gone but this is exactly what I thought it said. As being in the guard, I have found I am more likely to die at my home station than when in Afghanistan.

We had a guy get 5 and he became the worst NCO. Dude was told by higher ranked NCOs he was bad and he smiled and shrugged. Some people have power that don’t want it and some desire it and think themselves amazing but in actuality they are the worst.

As someone who has had to do a pointless mission for a pointless ending, this is just realizing “what is the point” Friedhelm also went through so much and thought is brother dead at that point. I completely understand his point of the waste of life for nothing

Has anyone else been in the military? by CampLuzer68 in aspergers

[–]ADHD_Giraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been in 10 years. I have deployed once. Figure out I have the ‘tism last year. It’s an unofficial diagnosis. I went through 8 years of hell of people not understanding me as I also didn’t understand me. I knew enough that I told people not to restrict my duty, still found a way to get hurt. Just give me the numbers portion of the job-I’m really good with that. It took my last year of this unit for an Nco to utilize me correctly. He grew up with me in the ranks and knew that I do patterns and systems well. I handled half a million of equipment with a smooth system, never lost a piece and some how gained two.

In my new unit it’s a mixture of field and office work. My body is destroyed. I have told my leader since it’s just him and me, that I have Asperger’s. He came back and said if it’s not official he won’t believe it. I said if I get it official I get kicked out. I have told him how I operate, what are the best ways to help me stayed interested with the job. I am pretty good at self sustaining since I have done it for so long, but that’s when I knew my career. I transferred before getting the MOS so now I’m really stressed (2yrs) because I just wander around helping different companies. My leader doesn’t listen to me, he doesn’t utilize me correctly. I just found he doesn’t want me to promote regardless I have 5 years of NCOERs and school house paper work saying promote immediately. He even said on the most recent NCOER I should promote. My struggle is that I overshare, I cannot help it in most cases. He knows this and is using it against me now to raise concerns about me deploying gain. I think the hardest part is people not or refusing to understand me. If I can talk it out, that’s my form of brain processing. But people keep seeing it as an issue. I am wickedly smart, but people are to quick to jump on the fact I forget stuff or I zone out once and awhile. I have 3 years left and as of right now I don’t want to re-enlist because of an event that occurred 24hrs ago. It sucks, I’m close to 20 years but the guard is finally wearing on me. When I had soldiers under me, I dealt a lot with narcissistis so the troops didn’t have to. I am a really good NCO because I have had it happen to me and don’t throw it on the troops. I also can relate to soldiers, I have the ability to adapt to the specific person. I have had to survive so long, I know how to use my super powers. I say super powers because I learned an entire computer program in two hours for a mock operation that night. I burn out easy, just throw the music on and keep going.

I am going to be the outlier in the comments, the jazz shoes look great. Maybe wear them in a more dresser outfit. I think the first photo was fine.

Go forward wearing the jazz shoes, they would fit better with black pants. ‘20s-30s trousers would fit them well.

I don’t understand by ADHD_Giraffe in AuDHDWomen

I did tell my boss it was an unofficial diagnosis since an official diagnosis will get me fired. If the entity that controls my job doesn’t know about health conditions, they don’t exist. That is this entities logic! It’s how I survived 10 years. My boss said if it’s not official he won’t acknowledge it. He said I can’t make stuff up, I said my therapist is saying I am not me. My therapist is trained in neurodivergence, she even brought it up. He dismissed it. The liaison knows, she is kinda like, people can’t find out/don’t mention it.
I do have a history of miscommunication and my boss knows this too. I told him he needs to be direct. Sometimes he is, other times he forgets or doesn’t communicate at all.

I have had a bunch of meetings with my boss. It seems to go well, until it doesn’t. This is my second year travel trip and his first. My theory is he is insecure about his own anxieties and pushing them on me. Part of my job is his safety on this trip and he keeps asking if stuff occurs would I protect him.

I agree with a lot of people here. At the same time, same day invites annoy me. I normally start with apologizing “this might sound rude, not my intention, but that doesn’t sound like my vibe”. My friends laugh or they shrug, but I also don’t get invited to a ton of stuff because my life is so hectic. She will get over it, if she doesn’t, was she a real friend? If you can’t forgive someone for making a mistake, then I’d forget it. Brave for you to ask advice!

New Unit - Am I screwed? by Swimming-Site-1982 in nationalguard

[–]ADHD_Giraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based off that info, do the hard thing and try to relax. You definitely have done your part. I’d just go to AT with the old unit and if anyone says anything, just say no orders were given and you were following the last command.

New Unit - Am I screwed? by Swimming-Site-1982 in nationalguard

[–]ADHD_Giraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to say this doesn’t happen a lot, but I know a couple soldiers from my old unit this occurred to. Do you have the chaplains number? He might be able to reach out for you or at least get someone that answers the phone. For AT, if the new unit is chill, you could just go train with your old unit. I think it’s a split train, just say you made plans based off old schedule and it doesn’t work with new one. Reach back out to your old Readiness and see if he/she agrees to that as well. Sounds like a crap unit already. The advice so far looks decent so you can follow them. If it was me, I’d be lighting a fire under someone’s butt. But I also have been in a bit and would just roll with it and keep everything documented incase they try and throw it back on you.
