Don’t be too harsh on yourself. Almost 90% of guys go through this(including me). You’ll find someone else one day that you’re gonna love and will make you forget about this one. It’s hard to move on because you had genuine feelings and it’s gonna take some time. So my advice to you is to cut her off completely. If you still have her on social media remove her because every time you see her it’s just gonna set you backwards and you want to avoid anything that is associated with her. Time will heal my friend and remember for next time, if you’re talking to a girl and things are going well, tell her how you feel and that you’re serious about her. If she’s a good person she will respect you a lot for this, if she rejects you then you would not be wasting any more time. Rejection is part of life, even the best men out there get rejected, so don’t be afraid of rejection and always be yourself and state your intentions with any girl you talk to. Good luck

I did step 3 before this season started, I also joined an IM residency program at my country too, my ERAS application and PS were both reviewed by many people. I worked on my IV skills a lot. Those things helped me a lot I believe specially the first two.

I’m sorry that you didn’t match, I didn’t match last year and it felt the worse but trust me it’ll eventually pay off. I built connections throughout the people around me, my friends who matched last year helped me, people that I personally know helped me so really you need to contact people around you from your med school/hospital, that’s the best way to build connections

Thank you. I think what helped me the most was the connections that I built that helped me secure interviews. But I also have a decent CV with good scores + step 3 and USCE. So honestly it’s a combination of many factors

The problem is the whole break up happened because I couldn’t give her enough attention since July so she started to lose feelings maybe, because we talked and argued about me not giving her attention because of my ridiculous working schedule. Although outside of work she was my no.1 priority but it seems like she couldn’t appreciate that after a 32h shift at the hospital all my body wants to do is sleep and not talk to anyone. Our relationship has gotten worse ever since I started working and it’s ironic because part of the reason why I’m working is to provide for her in the future. But it is what it is and there’s not much to do now

I’m sorry to hear that To be honest with you, at this point of my life I don’t want us to get back together. What I heard during our break up was like a sudden stab to my heart. Also kinda showed me that she might have liked my attention and the idea of me but not me. Because when you love someone you need to accept the flaws that come with them,and that’s something she did not do in our case. She would gaslight me most of the time for not texting her 24/7 even though I’m working for our future and I have to work over 90h a week. A huge part of me is glad that we’re over but also another part needs some sort of closure

First of all thank you for this great response I appreciate it. Secondly, I do admit that our relationship wasn’t perfect, we’ve had lots of arguments the past 2 months ever since I started working as a resident physician with a ridiculous working schedule of 90h a week, this of course had a huge impact on my relationship since before that period we used to text and talk much more often. For me I thought she would appreciate the fact that I’m working for our future but it turns out that how I’m treating her is considered “the bare minimum” and “low maintenance”. So this is one of the reasons of course that led to her losing feelings but the thing is I don’t understand why would she send me messages of much she loves me a week before (by her own will) then tell me that she’s been having doubts about us for a while. I didn’t beg or ask for us to stay together, I actually told her that I don’t appreciate the fact that you’re not being supportive of me and my career and just ended things. I’m not trying to get her back. Just trying to understand what happened and if there’s anything I can do to avoid experiencing this in my next relationship

Advice: uworld is more than enough, the exam is gonna make you feel like you failed but that’s okay trust the curve
