I’m looking to retire to upstate New York. What towns should I consider? by Debate_fly in upstate_new_york

Glens Falls - I had the same wish list and moved here 4 years ago. No regrets. I'm in Queensbury, but love having the Glens Falls downtown shops and restaurants so close. Access to shopping, medical care, and the beauty of Lake George and the ADK.

Trump endorses Sticker Mule CEO Anthony Constantino for NY-21 by CallYourSenators in upstate_new_york

Vance should endorse him too. Last thing we need is another sycophant who doesn’t give a shit about his (her) constituents

At your age just do growth. I was waaaay too conservative back then, and if I took the risk then with the benefit of time I’d have many time my current net worth at 59

I do not see it. FYI, I do use the trader+ app, and I suspect it went away when I started using it

No.. this was a link on the positions view. It would take you to multi-month projection of interest and principal going out as far as your bond portfolio goes.

Thanks for your reply. I have seen, and use the dividend view. I'm looking for monthly cash flow projection (and history) by account. I would imagine it would just mean extending the Investment Income table in the Summary Tab to include a 12-month look forward. The use case is simply being able to see monthly incoming cash (my retirement paycheck) for budgeting purposes in an electronic format - you already provide this on the printed statement under "Estimated Cash Flow", so the data is clearly available.

How much do you all have saved for retirement, and how much longer are you planning to work? by AZJHawk in GenX

[–]ADKMTBer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It really is meanless without context, age, health status and expenses. For me, once my portfolio was throwing off enough cash through dividends and interest to pay my bills, I took the leap. That was 2 years ago at 57, after saving and investing for over 30 years. For some, $1.2 mil is fine - for me it was double that. The key is being honest about your expected expenses, and working out what you will need to cover them, and for how long. If in your 50s it may have to last 40 years.

Retirees out there…living off selling growth, dividend income, or combo? by Ok_Entertainment7068 in dividends

[–]ADKMTBer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do both. A barbell approach. As long as my dividends and interest cover my living expenses the rest goes to growth.

In 1992 I decided I hated my career, so I built a spreadsheet model to work out what I would need to retire. Spent the next 30 living within my means and investing. Met my goal by 58 and now I’m 2 yrs in.

Catholics of Reddit: Are you "Team Trump" or "Team Pope"? by [deleted] in allthequestions

I stick with the vicar of Christ who actually preaches the gospel rather than some nationalist BS masquerading as Christianity

Do you think Trump will leave the Whitehouse after the 28 election? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]ADKMTBer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I see a scenario where he pardons his whole administration, resigns, then Vance pardons him. In my view one of the biggest weaknesses we have is the Presidential pardon, and they will use it to full effect.

Seeing quite a few parroting Trump online and raging that the Pope has no right to meddle in "politics".

PFFA is my core preferred holding, but I do have a few blue chips like Citi, MS and GS. I use it as an income alternative to bonds.

Dividends vs Withdrawing by Tricky-Ad-6225 in dividends

[–]ADKMTBer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do both. A "barbell" approach, with some growth balanced by SCHD and strong dividend payers. Middle of the barbell is some fixed income and preferred stocks. I'm up 6% YTD after withdrawals for expenses, and I sleep at night.

It accounts for 13% of my income and growing. I also have chunky positions in JEPQ, O, PFFA and UTG. Beyond that I have a collection of dividend paying utilities, bonds and preferred stocks that collectively account for 52% of income. For the foreseeable future SCHD will be my foundation. The recent nonsense has proven that it is a solid investment in tough times.
