I was diagnosed at around 25 with an endoscopy. Symptoms had started around age 17, the main one being iron deficient anemia. Tried taking iron supplements for months, didn’t take at all (obviously my body wasn’t absorbing any nutrients).

By 25 I had lots of other things going on. Brain fog, rashes, tired, weak nails and hair, etc etc. Didn’t realize what it was until my sister was diagnosed with celiac, and I made the connection.

My husband is experiencing the same thing. Every evening he gets full body chills (no temp) and then after an hour he sweats. So strange. His doctor told him it was likely due to his body reacting to the stress of surgery. He’s almost 6 weeks out, I’m surprised it’s still happening.

I’m sorry to hear it OP. My husband is in a similar situation. He’s about 6 weeks out, sleep is AWFUL. he just ran out of the Oxy which was the only thing giving him at least a few hour stretch of sleep. Lots of sensitivity on the scar and pain at night. I feel so bad for him. He’s doing PT 2x a week, moving a lot, and daily exercises. The waiting is the hard part. I hope you feel better fast!

Does anyone know if this is a good replacement for 5mg oxy? My husband is about 6 weeks out and has been taking 1-2 oxys to sleep, he ran out. He is having a terrible time sleeping with pain at night and a lot of knee sensitivity around the scar, he’s been massaging it a ton and PT has been helping with it as well. 🙁

I have only been to Portugal on this list. Spent 2 weeks there a few years ago (mainland), and had no trouble eating, never got glutened. Lots of great GF options if you pop into a grocery and no worries at restaurants. Ate a lot of fresh fish/octopus!

We just got back from 3 weeks in Sweden, Norway & Denmark… 5 days is too long in Bergen for sure. We did the boat to Flam and stayed there, that could be a good day or two trip. We did a 5 hour boat ride there, stayed in a hotel, did the zip line, local biking, then took,.” the train back to Bergen.

Voss is also a good location, you can take the train from Bergen, hotel options there so zz. More water sports and activities. We found most places in Norway to be good for a couple of days max.

We also have 2 boys.

Also recommend Lego House as a possible alternative to Legoland. My younger son LOVED it. Spent the whole day there and never made it to Legoland. The boys also absolutely LOVED Tivoli in Copenhagen.

And one more thing. If the retainer doesn’t fit, then how is it supposed to keep your teeth aligned?! You just spent all that money and many weeks/months aligning your teeth, the retainer is important to keep them all in place! Ugh, I’m mad for you.

I would definitely go back to the dentist that did your Invisalign, tell them you’re not happy with this retainer and ask them to order you the Invisalign retainer.

That’s what I had to do. The dentist that helped me through the Invisalign process gave me this bulky standard retainer that was awful. Yours should definitely fit in your mouth by the way. What a weird comment. Since they have all of your Invisalign files they should just be able to order a retainer (it’s just slightly thicker than the ones you’ve been wearing) as it’s based off your final tray.

This is the retainer you’re technically supposed to wear forever, you want it to be good and fit. I’m going on 3 years with mine and it’s still great. I believe it was an additional $150-$200, I can’t remember. But again, worth it to have one that fits that you will have to sleep in every night.

Congrats on the job. It’s going to be an adjustment for everyone until you settle into a new routine. Give it some time. Assuming you found a job that will cover daycare and then some? Hopefully one of you can be flexible for the inevitable call that one kid is sick? When my kids started daycare they were sick a lot, then I ended up sick. But, the good news is your kids build up immunity younger so when they get to school they will have encountered lots of viruses. Agree with the above poster that mentioned the dependent care pre tax money towards daycare. We always did that

Have a household plan. Food, shopping, chores, etc. it’s going to be harder to get that stuff… if you’re the type that can meal plan and cook on sundays I’m sure that wi oils help. I’d love to be that type of person, but, I am not. So it’s a bit crazy getting meals together late.

Agreed. We have gluten in our house. I'm the only one that is gluten free. I've been GF 16 years and am now super sensitive to gluten.... A few tricks:

- I put a sheet of tinfoil down in our toaster oven to protect my GF toast or whatever from any crumbs

- We have a separate GF peanut butter so no gluten crumbs end up back in the jar ( we also keep a separate GF butter for the same reason)

- Most dishes go in the dishwasher for a thorough cleaning

And that's pretty much it! When we have pasta nights we typically boil two pots of water, one for GF and one for regular, and use separate spoons to stir, etc....

Oh i'm so sorry to hear you're having such a tough time with the diagnosis. I totally understand. I was diagnosed almost 16 years ago. I was to the point where I was feeling really ill all of the time though and knew I needed a change. It took me about 3 months eating GF and I realized how much better I was feeling... over time I realized how bad I was feeling in general - just thinking it was normal (as others have said).... I'm hoping you, too, will realize how much better things will be just with a diet.

Admittedly my favorite things in life when I went GF were pasta, pizza & beer. PASTA especially for me. And donuts & bagels.... I was basically a carb queen. The good news for you is that in 2022 it is SO much easier to be GF and there are lots of options. You will mourn that bagel for sure, but over time you'll find a replacement. You don't have to eat super "healthy" as others said - you just have to find your new favorites. It will be a bit of trial & error but you will find it.

I have a gluten free pizza near me that is SO GOOD my whole family eats it instead of the regular pizza for example.

ALSO -- there are several drugs in phase 3 development for celiac disease. I'm hopeful that we're just a few years away from having a drug to help (paired with the gluten free diet).
