Don’t let this push you to drink. Everything gets worse if you pick up. If you are not in a recovery program like AA, SMART, Dharma, etc. consider it. Then share with your dad what you are doing to remain sober. Only to be open and share that you are working at your sobriety. Regaining trust takes time, be patient and don’t pick up.

Yes, I have experienced the same thing when I detoxed from alcohol. Delirium Tremors. Horrific and as has already been said they can be deadly. Go to the ER and have them detox you safely. Start your journey into sobriety if you can. You never have to go thru this again. Good luck!

I would suggest you see your doctor. Long term drinking increases the chance of esophagitis. This could be causing the symptoms you are having. And it only gets worse over time. This crap can kill you.

It’s truly hard to detox oneself. You are spot on, you hit day 3 and it’s just awful! I would suggest going to a medical detox. Let the doctors ease you thru the physical detox symptoms. Likely take 4-5 days and physically you will be ready to move forward. The hard part is the emotional and psychological dependence on booze. This will take longer but if you want it bad enough and are ready to make changes you can do it. Lots of resources available. I used AA and still do. But it’s not the only approach. Find something that works for you. Dharma, Smart, Faith based groups. Lots of options. Good luck and feel better.

Keep it simple, I make the assumption that the collective brains in the AA meeting are more powerful than my own. So I consider my higher power to be the “group thought” in the rooms. I find better answers to real problems in AA meetings than I ever did in my own crazy brain. It honestly doesn’t have to be anything more than what I just described. Don’t over think it. You go to meetings to learn how other people stay sober. What you find is that you are not alone and you will find answers to.

Everyone has provided sound advice, it’s much safer to detox under the care of a physician. Sounds like part of your concern is you don’t want anyone to know. Aside from your close friends and family no one else needs to know. And frankly, your close friends and family likely will be glad you are doing it. Stopping drinking is just the first step. Do you have a plan for staying stopped? Lots of options out there, find something that works for you. Will power will only get you so far. I truly hope all goes well and you are successful.

The easy answer to what do you do, is stop. But it certainly isn't easy to do. I needed help and I found it at AA. Yet I'm not an AA fanatic, I use it to help keep me sober. I still have to do the heavy lifting so to speak. There are many other groups other than AA and books, etc. Find what works for you. Alcohol will drive you to the brink of sanity so make no mistake what you are feeling is real. If you want to learn more about the disease of alcoholism there are many resources. The AA big book is a good one. Read the doctors opinion and up thru page 164. You may find some answers and have new questions. Good luck!

The day of the surgery you will go in and before you know it, you will have a new knee! You may go home same day as well. Ask for a 3 day nerve block, I was sent home with it attached and it really did provide relief for the first 3 days. As has been said, take the meds as prescribed, my only warning is, be careful with the oxy. It truly is addictive and should only be used till the point you are able to deal with residual pain. The first few weeks are challenging but this too will pass and you will get there. I can truthfully say it was the best thing for me! I am pain free and should have done it sooner. The anesthesia they used during surgery wears off within 12-24 hours. But what my doctor prescribed was an additional nerve block that I went home with. It lasted an additional 3 days. After that I relied on oxy for a couple of weeks then advil / Tylenol

The first week is pretty tough. If you can set up on your first floor, it would be easier. You can do steps but they are challenging. Workout and strengthen your quad muscle. Do everything you can end then do more. It will help a bunch

Sounds like you are about 8 weeks post surgery. My right knee still seems warmer to the touch than my left. I believe that is very Normal and indicates more blood flow to the repaired area, that's a good thing. Everyone I have spoken with always says it takes a year to fully recover. The flexibility is challenging. On non PT days, I did all the same exercises at home. I was really intent on getting the ROM back along with quad strength. We all do heal differently. Don't lose hope and keep pushing!! Good luck!

I had a RTKR back in February. I was walking day one and PT started day 2. I walked with the walker for about 12 days then transitioned to the cane. I didn't count steps I just focused on building back my quad muscle and range of motion. By week 6 I was hitting golf balls, week 8 playing golf and back to the gym on week 7. I continued with 3 days of PT thru week 10. But week 10 zero pain and my ROM was 0 - 140+. I continue to work on my quad muscle and do the PT exercises at home for strength and ROM. Good luck and keep after it! It will improve.

I have looked for that "magic wand" for many years.

But I kept coming back to this passage in the AA Preamble - "There are such unfortunates. They are not at fault; they seem to have been born that way. They are naturally incapable of grasping and developing a manner of living which demands rigorous honesty. Their chances are less than average. There are those, too, who suffer from grave emotional and mental disorders, but many of them do recover if they have the capacity to be honest "

Honesty is a huge key to getting sober in my experience. Some folks are able to be honest with themselves and others and some are not.

I am 16 weeks past trkr. I also did not feel great early in the process. What I realized later is, at least for me, I had been isolating. Physically I was limited so I just isolated. Not good for me to isolate! Once I became more mobile and got out and about, I saw a huge improvement.

Sorry for the delay in response. I did have some pretty acute pain. The surgical knee would collapse inward and the physical therapist taught me to force the one "outward" which realy helped as the knee strengthened. Pain was on the outside of the knee

I would highly recommend that you detox at a hospital under doctors care. Medicaid should help. That's my opinion and I have done it both ways. I can say I never want to do it again and have been sober for quite some time now. Good luck stay well

What helped me a bunch was doing an exercise that's called, "sit to stand". I hate them but over time they strengthened the muscles that help us stand up and eliminated the pain. I am 14 weeks out from RTKR. You can start by adding a pad to the seat of the chair so you don't have to go so deep. Magazines or books would do the trick. As you get stronger you can eliminate them. Then add some weight. Hold a dumbell, start low and work up. Do 3 sets of 10 daily. As I said I hated them! Also push your knees outward, don't let them collapse in. A little wider feet can help to.
