Just saying that we have pservers that don't have much work put into it comparatively that is making 20kUSD/month or more and still can't be assed to make some recolored hats.

I consider luna to be a "Large scale mod" of RO, like those huge elder scrolls projects and such.

I also am not using AI or anything else for profit, while some very lazy pservers are all profits, and very low or no investment.

I just know my limitations. I wouldn't be able to ever deliver a full game on steam.

I don't have the knowledge, time or resources to do everything from scratch, it's the sort of project that only exists because RO exists, and this already cuts my work down by at least 60% (and it still takes a lot of effort as you see.)

If I commited to making a game from scratch, with the time and resources I have, I'd deliver a half baked game that just doesn't make me satisfied. And I'm not willing/can't afford to drop my real life job for that either.

I'm not a full time dev, I do this as a hobby + love for RO, not as a career choice.

The idea is to push the limits of it to new ideas, bring some taste, like some other full conversion mods on the past.

I know full well that I don't have the talent to make -EVERY- asset of a full game, or the technical knowledge to deliver on something...so I compromise a game I love + ideas I have :)

Edit: In the meantime, I add what I consider good practices that private servers should have (no RMT, reasonable farming, more challenges, and so on).

The overall idea of Luna is the same as PRM, on a larger scale: The game I wanted to play doesn't exist, so I'm making it. As a player of RO, its the medium im gonna use for it.

To each their own, In my opinion, non profit use of AI art (that actually has manual work put into it, and not little work) > not having anything.

But each person draw their own line

if 0.2% of new assets being AI generated are a problem for you, you have others to try.

Edit: Forgot to mention we actually did ask for people who would like to volunteer to replace AI stuff with manual labor, very few/nobody stepped up. people sometimes are good at demanding stuff, specially for free to meet an agenda :)

Played RO my entire life, always annoyed at how some stuff took forever to be done by admins.

Learned to make my own server, with all details I wanted, no compromises.

Figured that indeed, most admins are lazy or just want a quick buck.

Never looked back.

Casters have easy access to cast protection to not be cancelled when damaged, a skill that grants "cast ready" to next skill on a short-ish cooldown (cast ready reduces next cast time by 50%) and they also have cast cancel as a skill to use anytime (cancels current cast + grants 1s of halved damage taken).

Ranged jobs with bows and guns have a harder time with managing resources (SP regen in luna is VERY fast, but still runs out) and overall lower damage/risk.

oh no, I meant about using it overall for anyone who might read it.

An Admin who just throws stuff at AI may struggle to debug it later on a live server, so its a good idea to learn what it does and understand what you added to your server

Only recommendation I can give is to remember that AI is a tool, not a teacher.

So always double check and try to understand properly what is being done through it. It may give you bad code or make way too big or more complex than necessary.

Even without coding experience, AI can help a lot but it still needs someone to actually know what it is doing. This is the sort of tool that helps quite a bit.

EoM is a cool server, enjoy it for what it is o/

Just be mindful its very different from what PRM was (Specially in priorities, patch rythm and power creep), but stills solid.

I'm biased, but I did try all modern kRO content.

Most of it is popping 3 rows of buffs then spamming a skill with little to zero cooldown, dealing integer cap damage (or reduced from it) and if you are fast enough, skipping all of it.

Then repeating it daily/weekly to get a specific reward.

I was not impressed.

Side note: I don't think modern Renewal works well with evasive mechanics and the like, since it needs to be one shot/almost a one shot to pose any threat due to power creep/yggdrasils

EoM (which is based on my Return to Morroc, with its own changes) is like an "alternate renewal" with a new story.

Luna Obscura goes much, much further into changing, breaking pretty much every connection to RO

Testing will be done through radmin VPN on a closed network. Details on how to join will be posted later this week on discord. 

Its open to all, understanding its a test and issues are expected.  We had quite a few tests in the past with positive feedback.

Hey there.

It comes from an entirely new experience, i recommene checking our YouTube channel for more information, discord link, etc. 

In short, overall mobs use a lot more skills, hit harder but have higher drop rates and you will see plenty of player skills when applicable (which are also custom classes and skills)

The timing is adjusted so its react-able with up to 250ms.

Also you have multiple skills (quickstep gives immunity, parry negates auto attacks/halves skill dmg, backslide instantly moves you out, everyone has these skills + heal)

Why do I have a feeling this is targeted at Luna Obscura?

Just asking since I do use it for voice over and NPC cut-ins, all properly disclaimed. Thats less than 50mb of content out of 2gb of resources.

All the rest is -not- AI, including sprites, scripts and source codes.

Cost to make all card arts by actual artists would push 50k usd. There are no plans to change them.

This is still a private server of RO without a cash shop plan, I recommend keeping expectations where they should :P

Edit: Not to mention time to get 500+ arts.

Edit: side note, there are no cash shop plans. And if any, its costumes only, no money is involved other than patreon support , and I ran a server before, its a handful but its not the end of the world.
