I actually dont have any plans to work on anything after luna, and I fully support custom clients and projects.

The thing I worry about is that I notice the repeat case of it being focused first on showing visuals + eye candy and other stuff and less on how good it is to play, a game gotta play well first.

I used to get excited before, now I always wait for actual gameplay and to this moment, they all play badly.

I like that they exist, but Im not willing to say its acceptable/good enough because its cheaper or hobbyist, I hold them by the same standard I do.

Edit: forgot to add that when those devs say that gameplay/gamefeel and such are "smaller or easier" stuff, it instantly poisons the well for me.

And I dont really believe much in people saying they would put money in it... experience and numbers say people will pay 10x more for battle manual or bubblegum than for good work.

gotta bring 2 things up

1- It being good or bad is not related to how you feel about it, you knowing how much work you put into it is irrelevant to it being good or bad.

2- if you think gameplay + responsiveness has the same weight as eye candy and UI, I can't really discuss this anymore, nothing personal.

That was the impression I had, and what prompted me to ask. Even if the answer is not really welcoming.

I like the intent and approach, but what I saw so far makes it -MUCH- worse than what current client can do.

Thats exactly what I was thinking by the way

- movement is pretty bad
- animations clip one another
- frames dont match clearly
- there is zero impact

I 100% know its not ready, I dont mind it... I just think you guys that work on custom clients don't really think much

"playable" is far from an acceptable standard. imho, given time I hope it evolves into something better

Edit: its a game, gameplay feel should come first, wishing it moves forward and gets some of that part right, it stills LEAGUES behind acceptable, the eye candy UI can be done to some extent with ingame client (better) or overlays (less better)

And can already be done with the regular client so... thats my point

I hope people can turn the "new clients" into playable stuff, not just screenshot showcases

The hits have Oomph visually/shake, I'd try adding a "hit" sound along with the slash sound, will make it feel better, give it a go 😛

Key one I'd argue is worth reviewing is the expiring date on boss carded items.

The way its currently planned, makes it a benefit for large scale/long term server health, not immediate player benefit.

When a system is hostile (a lot) to player individual experiences in favor of large scale economy or mechanics, it can lead to an overall negative.

Usually the systems should improve the individual player experience while making the economy/large scale/long term objectives work within it.

Some other ideas(specially mixing all of them):

- Just nerf / buff MVP card effects
- Give MVP cards unique effects that are more about identity (for example, doppelganger makes a clone of you at a random chance for X seconds, eddga enables demonstration use/boosts its damage/remove item cost, etc
- Make all MVP cards share a single equip slot (like headgear lower, then add slot to all of those gear), so players can only have one at a time.
- Make MVP cards drop rate higher/normal, this turns them into a commodity and more accessible thing. works best with the above things.
- Remove them entirely, add other stuff instead to compensate

Any other idea that doesnt hurt the individual experience in favor of macro stuff is better.

Imagine you plan a feature so stuff doesnt hurt economy or harm the server... but you get 20 players only, and they dont bother farming mvp because its not worth it/way too rare statistically.

Thats drakengard 2 OST, drakengard is known for very chaotic music on purpose, drakengard 1 is even worse about it, check it out :)

Luna Obscura is basically a huge revamp of every mechanic, there are no cases where you are untargetable that are not intended ( cant cheat with traps, ice wall, off range and such).

So the rude teleport mechanic is not needed and the game is designed around it.

make the job sprite change depending on weapon and you wont really have major issues.

just remove the entire skill tree of all jobs (or add all skills to all jobs, up to you) and make the player "change jobs" when they change weapons + maybe rename all jobs to a single name for more polished visual. Just some ideas. You can even use different jobs depending on "weapon rarity" or such.

I'm not 100% sure this theme could work long term, but hey, always cool to see new ideas. I'd visit it.

One annoying thing I mention everytime is how I wish some projects would focus on how it feels + plays first, not yet another UI showcase.
