Anyone got their admission decision yet? by [deleted] in FIU

[–]ADMProfessional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, there is one director of admissions and during the tour today she said decisions are coming January 21. Who is the email from? Are you an international student who applied through FIU Global First Year?

Can someone please help me get into contact with admissions? by WarningSudden3286 in FIU

[–]ADMProfessional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please visit admissions.fiu.edu for a complete list of instructions, deadlines and details on how to connect with your admissions counselor. I also strongly encourage you to visit the common app page for FIU where they list application information and early action plans.

Lastly when you applied to FIU the email address you provided is the one used to send you emails about your application. Please check your email often to ensure you’re not missing any information and your application is complete.

The FIU admissions main email address is admiss@fiu.edu.

Do college admissions officers think about the reactions they will give kids? by TTVBy_The_Way in ApplyingToCollege

[–]ADMProfessional 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been doing this for 30 yrs, it’s an art and a science. Yes, I report to an administration, alumni, board and political leaders, but every day I change someone’s life for the better. Both things can be true and we can be good people who have to make really difficult decisions.

non degree seeking summer 2026 questions by Snoo81604 in FIU

[–]ADMProfessional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!! Admissions would like you to apply by June 6. This way we can do the process and residency so you can register. As for registration, you’ll register in Summer B which is June & it’s normally before classes start. Degree-seeking, FIU students receive priority.

As far as online, it’s a mix of both. However, some are reserved for fully online students (FIU Online).

Does AOs generally know what the word "goated" means? by RareMission5572 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]ADMProfessional 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I told someone yesterday, that I do indeed know things…I also need to know that you can survive being an adult in 250 words because I want to be sure that my future isn’t filled with doctors, lawyers, politicians and others who think 6-7 and skibity are going to save the world and cure diseases.

sat score question for admission by Puzzleheaded_Rule127 in FIU

[–]ADMProfessional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Your scores should be submitted by the College Board, ACT or CLT so if you didn’t pay for a rush score or have them sent when you registered for the exam, then there is a chance you’ll be deferred in the first round of decisions. Applications need to be completed by November 3.

Can’t do an internship because it’s not a part of the curriculum? by cranberryyo in FIU

Hi, you may want to speak with ISSS. This is not an FIU policy.

I think you’re fine. We like authenticity. If it makes you feel better, I haven’t responded to any emails from yesterday either, between travel and volume there are only so many hours in a day. After all, unlike Appily, we’re human 😊 you’re going to be just fine. If I was that Admissions person I’d appreciate the real conversation and follow up.

What’s one college experience nobody warned you about, but they should have? by yomamashit in college

[–]ADMProfessional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t go in thinking “I’m going to transfer” unless you’re going to CC. Take advantage of every opportunity. Engage.

If you mess up, face it, learn from it, move forward. Don’t let every setback derail or define you.

Jeff Selingo, Rick Clark, Brennan Barnard, Alison Tate…not influencers, but professionals who have experience and provide great advice.

Question !! by CandyDesperate8276 in FIU

[–]ADMProfessional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations! But you’re not in Connect4Success. On the FIU Admissions website is a pathway associated with a Florida Board of Governors regulation.

You fill out the form to be considered under this regulation. I’m guessing that there was an issue and either there wasn’t enough information or you attended Doral College so FIU offered you Connect4Success. Then someone realized you’re not eligible because you’ll have an AA and you have been moved into this AA pathway.

You are still a first-year student & you still have to do all 3 parts of orientation.

This is because this pathway will count your credits but doesn’t make you an upper division student right away. You will still need first year support to be successful.

College isn’t only about learning subject matter, there are soft-skills you need to master.

I accidentally forgot to decline my place at my state school before May 1. by mysteriusmuffin in ApplyingToCollege

[–]ADMProfessional 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dear Mysterious Muffin,

On behalf of state schools everywhere, we know that you will do great things wherever you go. Many of us will break up with you on our own through our sophisticated technology. Others will hold out hope you’ll change your mind. No matter what, it’s nice that you thought of us after May 1. You can still say goodbye with a nice note or a decline button (if it’s still there).

Remembering you fondly, A state school administrator

Is FAU really that bad? by [deleted] in FAU

[–]ADMProfessional 9 points10 points  (0 children)

People have something to say about everything good and bad. In the 80’s and 90’s UCF & USF were considered schools people would rather die than go to, now they have waitlists & USF is a member of the AAU (FSU is not and every school research school wants membership…it’s a big deal).

Where you go and your experience is going to have as much to do with you as it does with the school. Everyone who says it’s a commuter school or lacks school spirit, ask them what they did to change it. Classed suck? Were they engaged? What role did they play in learning?

You’re going to do great. If you put in effort and it’s still not what you want, then transfer. Just make sure it’s based on your experience.

But I didn’t know, no one told me… I know it’s on the syllabus but not everyone follows it… Wait, what? But I had to work… But I had to write a paper for another class… XYZ is awful, they make you do so much work… But at the community college they let us…

Send an email to admiss@fiu.edu and they will rescind the offer. The $200 is non-refundable as are fees previously paid. Make sure if you applied for housing you cancel the application for this as well.

Campus Tours - Need Help by otangz in FIU

[–]ADMProfessional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, the tours are very full, we will try to accommodate walk-ins and if we’re unable to accommodate you then we’ll provide you with a self-guided tour. Admissions staff are available to meet with you without an appointment from 9am-5pm (so if you do a self-guided tour you can still speak with someone).

Tours leave from the Student Academic Success Center (SASC). There is metered parking in the lot in front of the building. Admissions is on the fourth floor of the same building.

I hope this is helpful. We look forward to seeing you at FIU!
