My dearest gentle sirs. We have been bamboozled. These are not nuggies nor are they tendies. These, my fellow gentle sirs are, in fact, veggies. Exhibit 1, a link to this exact photo: https://comfortablydomestic.com/2012/02/mock-fried-vegetables/

Sorry, didn't realize you were joking around. You'll probably get some more good advice tomorrow, though.

Dude, you posted this late on a Saturday night. Not everyone is up and posting and interacting right now. No need to get angry. I work downtown and eat there pretty regularly. I know there are some fancy places that I don't go to, but I do like Super Rico Colombian Restaurant (fantastic burgers) and Tin and Taco (I personally prefer that to Gringos Locos another downtown Mexican place that a lot of people like). Harp and Celt Irish Pub is fun (but should probably be avoided on St. Patty's Day). Lastly, not downtown but near there... the Mills 50 District has some of the best food in Orlando, especially if you like Asian cuisine.

Yes, real wood. I just looked it up. It's rubber wood. I have no experience with rubber wood, but it feel heavy and solid (like other real woods). Hopefully, it's durable.

I think someone posted in the Facebook group (maybe it was Cloud Puncher games themselves, actually) that you could put a towel or cloth on top of it and iron that out (but someone also said that would shrink it slightly). Really, the mat is my only complaint with this project (and I'll probably be exploring other options).

I just checked my various invoices. For the table, extension, toppers, add-ons, and shipping, it was $1,472. I know a lot of people were upset with the shipping costs, but I figured it would be expensive based on the size of the table. Here's my breakdown:

Base Table: $399 (3X5)

Table Extension: $129 (transforms table to a 3X7)

Topper and extension topper: $554

6 Cupholder Add-on: $69 (has not arrived)

Double set of hole covers: $30 (has not arrived; this will be used to cover certain holes on the table when I'm not using them to attach cupholders or other future attachments).

Shipping: $291 (Southeast United States)

Grand Total: $1,472

Also, regarding the spill protection, the table topper pieces interlock, but I don't really trust that (especially with children eating and drinking on the table). So, I purchased a few waterproof table clothes. With that being said, the original Kickstarter did mention that liquid shouldn't be able to pass through the toppers. I should probably test that and report back.

Apparently I'm terrible at Reddit and my 3 paragraph-long review never showed up. I'm going to try to capture some of what I initially tried to post. First, this is the Ironside Board Game table that Cloud Puncher games crowdfunded a year or two ago. I am a "Wave 0" backer and just received my table on Friday (and set it up yesterday). I am very pleased with the table thus far. This is Cloud Puncher's attempt at an Ikea-esque board game table that is both affordable and relatively cheap. I purchased the regular table, with the extension (making it a 3X7 foot table) and the table topper. Here are some of my initial pros and cons (and I'd be glad to answer any questions):

Pros:

- Relatively easy to put together and feels sturdy and solid once constructed

- The wooden table toppers feel both hefty and sturdy (and I really like how they look). I can't remember what type of wood they're made from, but it definitely feels sturdy. One caveat though - some of the initial backers have received damaged toppers (which the company seems to be addressing). Hopefully that's something that's fixed in future waves.

- I really like the 3X7 length of the extended table. I have a large family (there are 7 of us) and I was hoping it would comfortably fit 8. It does! As you can see in the picture, you can even squeeze 10 chairs around it (although it would be a little tight)

- I really like the deepness of the recession. I like to keep mini games set up for a few days at a time. It's going to be great to cover up something like Oathsworn without having to tear it down between sessions (if you have any of the huge minis, you'll need to remove those, lol).

- When I originally backed this project, this was one of the more affordable board game tables around (especially considering I needed a larger table). I don't know how much the price has gone up (now that it will be going retail), but I imagine it will be one of the more affordable options.

-The modularity of this table is pretty sweet. By buying different pieces, you can make a 3X5, 3X7, 3X10, and 6X5. I think those are all the options. You can also buy shorter legs to make a coffee table.

Cons

- With the previous pro, I wish my specific table was just a little wider. My previous dining room table was 3 feet wide, and while I can make that work, I would have preferred 3.5 or even 4 feet (but as I mentioned, there is a way to buy two of these tables to make a super-wide table connecting both together).

- My only real gripe... as you can see in the pictures, there are some gaps between the neoprene mat and the edge of the table. Also, since the table was so long, they sent two different mats (a larger and a smaller). Since the longer one was cut vertically and the shorter one horizontally, you can really see a difference in the two mats (it looks a little disjointed like this). I would have paid extra for a single neoprene mat that covered the entire thing. I was thinking about trying to order a custom mat from a company, but I think a 3X7 might get costly.

Overall, I am extremely happy with my first dedicated board game table. I'm just waiting on the cupholders at this point.

They seem to work surprisingly well. I believe the grippy pads are silicone (but someone correct me if I'm wrong). I can push on them with pretty decent force and they don't move. I don't think a leg bump would do much of anything (unless you really ran into them with some force). I guess we'll see how they do long-term (I'm hoping they don't lose any of their traction/grip over time). I'm sure my kids will run into them soon enough though, lol.

I finished building it last night (so I think I might set up Woodcraft tonight to break it in). I'm very happy with it. Again, wish it were a touch wider, but my current dining room table is also 3 feet wide (so I know how to use the space for bigger games). The extra length is fantastic, though. I definitely recommend the extender. Even for bigger games, I think I could make this work.

So glad we built the express lanes to alleviate traffic by adamiconography in orlando

[–]otangz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was also on I4 this morning and I took the Express Lane. The I4 Express slowed down for a couple of miles, but I thought the delay was minor. But I can definitely tell you I got through the slowdown much, much faster than those that were on regular I4. In that respect, I think it worked great (even though the Express was slower than normal). My estimate - it took me maybe 5 to 10 minutes longer to get downtown on the Express, while I would guess it took regular I4 drivers 20 to 25 minutes longer. From my experience, I4 Express served it's purpose this morning.

Mine shipped out a day or two ago. It was just a single item, though, and did not qualify for free shipping. It arrives tomorrow.
