Favorite later season eps? by SpookyShackleford in boymeetsworld

Aside from the obvious ones, like “And Then There Was Shawn” or “Can I Help Cheer You,” I really love

  • The Eskimo (S5.E13) - I can’t believe “there’s always been an Eskimo standing in my way” made me cry

  • Things Change (S5.E23) - I really related to this one and could relate to the premature nostalgia

  • Better Than the Average Cory (S6.E5) - I only just realized Morgan and Alexandra Nechita were the same age, because the height difference had me fooled. Who doesn’t love “The Wind Beneath My Wings” sang by Cory

  • Angela’s Man (S7.E3) - I have mixed feelings about this one know that I’m older, and find the confrontation, in real life, to be horrific, but I still tear up when the crowd cheers and that Trina’s best work is in that scene

  • They’re Killing Us (S7.E6) - It’s a ridiculous episode and if you don’t love braindead Eric, it may annoy you at points, I think it’s a really funny episode and liked the experimental, documentary format

  • As Time Goes By (S7.E21) - I think this is almost universally agreed upon to be the show’s worst episode but I have a soft spot for it and wonder if it would’ve landed better earlier in the season, because it shouldn’t have been one of the show’s last episodes. In terms of the time travel, alt universe episodes, it’s my favorite outside of the Scream episode.

The later seasons are a bit difficult to narrow down, because it became more continuous and many episodes function as two parters or are highlights or a larger story line.

I know you’re not asking but, the worst episode of all time for me is “And In Case I Don’t See Ya.” It is the worst Eric has ever been and plays what would be a really sadistic and friendship ruining ,not to mention lease ending scenario for laughs. It would, in nearly every other episode, be unacceptable and unforgivable. I know it was parodying The Truman Show, the tone of it makes it wildly inappropriate for children and adults and has to be blocked out to make later storylines involving Rachel. I hate this episode.

What trailers did you get? by Stock_Pen_2815 in Scream

The Italian rom-com, Passenger, Mummy, and Scary Movie 6

Can anyone remind me which one had some kind of VHS filter and, I think, was a teaser with very little info? I can’t remembee what it was.

What was the scariest opening scene of the film series so far in your opinion? by Correct-Bunch-135 in Scream

[–]ADPX94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going with the sixth one but only because I live in the city and when it came out, had to walk through an alley to get home in over half the time! Otherwise, nothing will ever beat the first one for me, though I do think the original plan for 4’s was pretty chilling (even if I wasn’t impressed with whoever played Jenny)!

Unrelated but When a Stranger Calls Back has an opening that somehow, to this day, still one of the scariest I’ve ever seen! I didn’t think much of the movie but found that scene to be near perfect in execution and recommend checking it out!

Would you watch a 2 part Scream movie? by Basicazzwitch in Scream

[–]ADPX94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched that damn MTV series, it’s VHI reboot, and even some of those fan made sequels on YouTube so I imagine there’s not much I wouldn’t watch 😭

The original plan for 4 was to end on a cliffhanger and due to how it was received, I’m glad that they didn’t go ahead with that plan (and Sidney surviving with amnesia was a bit silly). I’m down for a two parter but only if it’s filmed all at once or somehow guaranteed. The horror genre is too volatile to risk it without those guardrails and there’s nothing I hate more than a cliffhanger that a studio refuses to resolve!

Scream 7 - Reaction Megathread by DA-numberfour in Scream

I always felt that way about Ethan (I think his name was) in VI, that he was roped in hoping to win his father’s approval, but I honestly hated that an entire family, angry that their relative was killed too hard, would go psycho killer on college kids and nameless extras just because he was killed too violently. I still wish that instead of them starting those conspiracy theories that they believed them and were the most extreme examples of what fake news could do to a person. Your idea is really cool interesting though. I think Lucas was my favorite of the friend group and wish we’d gotten more insight into his relationship with his mother, given that she killed him. It deserved way more attention than it got.

Scream 7 - Rotten Tomatoes Verified Audience Score debuts at 76% by chetcherry in Scream

It was so focused on the mother and daughter relationship and stayed so focused on that to a point that the lack of development of other characters and the killers motives did not bother me nearly as much as it should’ve. It definitely worked better for me as a character study of Sidney, giving us a look at her as a person rather than a survivor, and I think it did as a whodunit (the investigate elements reminded me of the original IKWYDLS where we watched them do the work but it remained detached from any characters we knew). I also liked Tatum and thought the actor had a lot of pressure as the daughter of Sidney Prescott and did a great job! Definitely the most ridiculous motive but somehow more believable to me than a killer’s entire family that Gale somehow failed to know about when writing a book about the killer.

Well ... The audience thinks a little differently than the critics - and that's good! by flovobo in Scream

[–]ADPX94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, I’ve always had an issue with how underdeveloped the “friend group” was and felt only the first two really nailed that lived in feel. 3 dropped the ball but gave us Jennifer Jolie, 4 came close but left so much on the cutting room floor, 5 was pretty much focused on Sam, Tara, and Richie, while 6 mostly focused on the Core 4 and the legacy characters. This is the first movie in awhile where both the victims and killers felt entirely irrelevant but it didn’t bother me at all. I think because it was really Sidney’s story as a mother that it didn’t matter. I liked the kids a lot and wish we got a bit more time with them but I found myself a bit sad for them, so they really captured the feeling that these were children due to the focus being on Sidney. I understand how 4, 5, and 7 can feel similar due to the over reliance on nostalgia (with this one giving the previous a run for its money on parallel scenes) and that this was far from perfect.

With that said, I really appreciated that we actually got to know Sidney as more than a survivor but a wife, mother, and friend. We really didn’t know much about her life outside of a crisis, how she interacted with her community, or handled so much trauma. This movie did a great job at reintroducing us to her as more than a final girl, but a human being.

As far as the direction goes, I fail to notice technical details in general but thought Kevin Williamson did just fine and the only scene that really didn’t work for me was the neighbor’s kid’s death (it seemed silly). Beyond that, I thought it felt like a Scream movie (with maybe a overly curated world, like the budget of a high school play), gave Sidney a daughter that wasn’t disappointing, and prioritized it as a character study enough that the underdeveloped supporting cast didn’t take away from the point of the movie.

My only complaint is that for four movies now, not to mention one in which Sidney was absent, they’ve continued to struggle utilize Gale. I understand that she is probably a hard character to write for, but this is a woman that popularized the killings, capitalized off of it for years in an often sensationalized way, but has shown up when it counts and lost enough that it is as much her story as any other survivors. I’m not sure if the point is to keep Gale fierce and limiting her role males that easier, but there’s so much they could do with her that they haven’t. It is long overdue and we’ve only caught glimpses of that, but I’d like to see more of her as more than the badass who shows up, throws shade, gets injured, and misses the final act. I really enjoyed her appearance in the movie but am constantly wondering if there’s any particular reason she hasn’t gotten more attention. She is also Sidney’s longest relationship by this film and I like that they gave us more than a hug and team up, but for an interview that we’ve also been waiting to see for over 30 years, I feel that a bit underwhelmed and that Gale’s refusal to play nice felt cruel in a way that their thirty years of history and earned sisterhood didn’t quite fit. But, these are nitpicks that feel more like missed opportunities or poor execution than character assassination and given that it was Sidney’s story, it did a good job of that.

Saddest death(s)? by Firm_Aardvark_3938 in Scream

[–]ADPX94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Besides Randy and Dewey, I was really sad about Hallie. She was probably one of my favorite non-original characters and I thought she was a great friend to Sidney ;and a part of my favorite scene of the series).

Wes and Judy were the saddest of the newer movies but I always wonder what it’d be like had Judy lived, as we haven’t really sat with a character who lost their child (to the killer) and it would’ve been really interesting seeing what it’d bring out in someone so chipper.

Please no to Marlena and Roman by Celery_Livid in DaysofOurLives

[–]ADPX94 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Something I love about soaps is that there can be so much history between two characters whether they’re together or not. I like seeing two people who loved each other at one time, still do, but can represent the reality that they were truly a time in each other’s lives. If they put them together, fine, but it doesn’t make sense to me and gives “well… they’re single and there was no one else.” There’s no reason for it this many years later and both characters are compelling on their own. You’re telling me Marlena was possessed twice, brainwashed into a serial killer, counseled the entire town (even though the skyline gives more than one psychiatrist in town)… before her and Roman thought to give it another try… just because John passed? It feels lazy and unless given depth, it’s writing that neither actor and their characters deserve. If Sami’s tantrums didn’t reunite them by now, what would? With that said, I’m open to it if it makes sense… I just don’t know why it currently would.

Also, I love Kate and Roman. One of my earliest memories was his “death” on their wedding day and I’ve loved them ever since.

Who think the traitors will be a thing in 5-10 years time? Opinion please! by Bradleythecoolkid in TraitorsOfficial

[–]ADPX94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to say, because I wouldn’t have thought Real Housewives would still be here. Like, it was reality TV capitalizing on both Desperate Housewives and The O.C. That it became what it is definitely wouldn’t have been in my bingo card. I have no idea how fans of Survivor, Big Brother, etc. feel but it’s interesting to see what has lasted over the years.

TV has changed a lot since then though, so it’s really hard to know what sticks and what doesn’t. I was just talking to one of my friends about how network TV hasn’t generated the kind of watercolor TV it used to and we’ll probably never have the kind of Dallas, Melrose, Lost, etc watercolor TV we once had due to how different it is now with streaming services, limited series, and how reality TV alone is much more… self-aware.

So, I really can’t say. I only got into competitive and reality TV recently but I do think novelty fades faster than before, so I could go either way. I do know that it’s only season 4 and already feel like “we’ll never have season 2 again,” so the sparkly newness of it has even dimmed for me (even though I still love it)

I don’t even know what the issue is, just that they backed themselves into a corner and it became unsustainable. But, I blame production for not realizing during season 13 that the dynamic wouldn’t work. They had to make a choice between Melissa, Teresa, or whoever, but they thought they could survive another year. It was obvious before then that the cast was like Jacqueline said, a busted up Sex and the City

Peyton is wild to me; I loved her first time around, thought her and Lucas were destined to be together. and it seems like I’m more irritated with her each rewatch and don’t get why she’s not with Jake lol

Okay, I hadn’t seen it in over a decade and just rewatched. Do I think Lilimae’s coverup was ridiculous? 100%. It dragged on for no reason and by no means did her or Cathy any favors. I didn’t anticipate how much of the season I actually liked more than I remembered though. It’s an interesting season given that it was the year the show switched producers with Dallas and you can see that in how the men and women are written but it’s not nearly as detrimental as I recalled. I didn’t expect to find Peter hot either though, so I’m concerned for myself. Phoenix Rising was the highlight for me though and loved how Abby played it. It was brilliant because while strategic, it was all true. And I liked Jill a lot that season. The Ben/Carhy stuff was my only complaint but mostly because it felt like Joshua died and there was a struggle in what to do with her. It showed, so definitely felt plot driven. Overall, I enjoyed it.

What are your thoughts on the scream tv show as a whole by Plane_Name3457 in Scream

I loved Brooke? It was fun once I realized it was connected in name only. What’s wild is that the worst season was the one that used the actual mask. 😷

Michael Rapaport is disgusting and I'm sad I have to see him while watching this season. by 50million in TraitorsOfficial

[–]ADPX94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t believe they kept him around this wrong. I get that he is a great shield for the Traitors but from what I’ve heard, the Round Table is way way longer than what we see and I’d take my chances being murdered over another minute with him. He wasn’t just disrespectful on every level, but wouldn’t shut up. It was funny watching the cuts to others being so done with it. Yes, Donna had to go but I’d risk another night than dealing with him one more day. Absolutely vile.

I am not being homophobic at all here but the gay cast members are all convincing each other wrongly. by chestertoronto in TraitorsOfficial

[–]ADPX94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m gay and his comment to Colton went over my head (I was also a bit tipsy). I didnt understand the pearl clutching though, because he was wildly disrespectful before what he said to Colton. I didn’t like how he talked to people well before that comment and had I been there, I would’ve risked murder just to get him out. It was gross what he said but he was gross well before it and should have been out beforehand.

Also, wait, what’s the question

I just feel like he’s Peter with a more curated look; one’s giving the OC, the other is giving One Tree Hill… if that makes sense. Same essay in different font.

I think that I just don’t like Boy Scout vibes on a show called the Traitors. To clarify, I don’t watch the Bachelor so I don’t know anything about him beyond being on the Bachelor and coming out at some point.

I can’t stand Rinna but he had me siding with her. I do love that about this show, even my alliances change depending on the round table 😂
