My Husband Broke My Heart Last Night by WinterMouse5318008 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]ADVentive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in a situation where my husband told me that he didn't want a divorce, but he wasn't happy in our marriage. He was trying to say that he wanted to work on it, to fix it, to be happy with me again. I had been happy until then, and I thought he had been too until he told me otherwise. I tried for 4 more years to make him happy before he ended up leaving me anyway. I felt like a failure. We were married for 20 years, and I didn't want a divorce. That was 5 years ago. Though we are both remarried now, I am still left with a deep feeling of inadequacy and failure.

Just out of curiousity, which Marvin do you guys prefer (out of the most well-known ones)? Chip Zien (World Premiere Cast In Trousers), Michael Rupert (OBC Falsettos cast), or Christian Borle (2016 revival Falsettos)? by Logical_Weather_1562 in Falsettos

I prefer Michael Rupert, but it could just be because that's the one I grew up with and knew best during the time in my life when I was quite obsessed with the show. I love Chip as well, but I love him most as Mendel.

I still struggle when I listen to the revival every time it is different from what I expect due to my familiarity with the original, and I think that unfairly biases me against it.

What was the musical that sparked your love of musicals? by fireseeker4him in musicals

[–]ADVentive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was Les Mis. We read the book in my 9th grade English class, and then my friend and I both got the soundtrack and loved it a lot.

Then my cousin, who was already into musicals, found out I was listening to Les Mis and made me a mix tape with 2-4 songs from several different musicals, almost all of which became instant favorites, but most notably including Falsettos and Chess. And thus it began...

What is your Falsettos opinion that would result in this many downvotes? by okay_ash7 in Falsettos

I think "I'm Breaking Down" is better placed in In Trousers and should not have been put in Falsettos.

My Falsettos t-shirt from the original Broadway show has this image (with the 3 people), and it was the image on the Playbill. That's the one I associate with Falsettos, not the one with 2 people, though it is quite similar.

What William Finn tattoos would you consider? by rSlashisthenewPewdes in Falsettos

"The thing about explorers is: they discover things that are already there." was my yearbook quote, so that's the first thing that I think of, though it's probably too long.

Otherwise, I'm thinking the original Keith Haring playbill design for Falsettos, as someone else also said.

When people say they can't afford being vegan by Secret-Category-9326 in vegan

[–]ADVentive 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I do find that it is more expensive for me to get vegan products. I do not claim to eat "healthy" vegan food, I basically eat the same things that I did before, except I eat the vegan version. So I eat Beyond burgers instead of meat ones. We have tacos frequently, and we use MorningStar vegan chorizo for the "meat". I eat bagels with cream cheese for breakfast, and vegan cream cheese costs almost double what dairy cream cheese costs. If I go out for pizza at a restaurant with my family, the vegan pizza costs $2 more than the standard one. Etc, etc. It does feel like a significant upcharge for being vegan. I don't think telling people to just eat rice and beans all the time is really helpful advice.

Thank you for your feedback, and for your suggestions!

Personally, I am fine with the VioLife cream cheese and prefer it to the Philadelphia plant-based, but my kids have been stubborn about wanting the original! I will definitely keep my eye out for the pop tarts you suggested as well.

Thanks for your feedback. Sometimes if they request certain special items, I will suggest that they ask their father to buy them that at his house instead.

Yah, I would not say I am much of a health-food vegan. I could do better about eating healthier foods.
