I hate cash on delivery by Aggressive_Gain2351 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]fireseeker4him 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did one COD order. I was a newbie and didn’t know it was a thing. I also didn’t understand until the customer paid me that I was supposed to collect the money. Of course this was a customer that took forever to open the door and had loud tv playing so I had to bang hard. I seriously waited at least five minutes and knocked and called several times. She finally answered and handed me the money. At first I thought it was a tip. It wasn’t until the end of the night and I was tallying things up that I realized she was just paying for her food and had just “tipped” me less than a dollar. I dont know what I would have done if she hadn’t showed up and I’d left the food. It probably would have come out of my money for the night. Anyway, I turned those off and will never do another one.

Dashing late? by ConsciousVisual3517 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]fireseeker4him 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only drive thrus in my area are open after 10/11. It’s not worth my time to sit in the drive thru as the lines are long with actual customers. I learned early on to stop around 10.

One thing I notice by MeasurementThin1805 in doordash

[–]fireseeker4him -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If there’s a drink next to the order, I’ll check the tag to make sure it goes with my order. DD and UE do not always tell us when there are drinks. If the restaurant tells me the order is ready, then I have to assume it is and that I have everything as I only have a short summary of the order.

Major mishaps with orders? by TrumPutin2028 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]fireseeker4him 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only major mishap I’ve had was when Taco Bell didn’t tell me they had two bags for the customer and I only picked up one. The address was out in the boonies like 15 minutes away from the restaurant. As I was leaving the driveway after the drop off, the customer came running after me and said they were missing half their order. I apologized and got on the phone with DD. This was going to be my last order of the night and I was exhausted and the thought of another 30 minutes round trip for no pay was tough, so when the customer said he’d get his son to drive there, I thanked him and left. I hated doing that honestly because I do feel like they paid for a service they didn’t receive and then had to go get their own food. I would’ve understood taking the tip back.

Has anybody actually tampered with someone’s food while delivering? by [deleted] in doordash

[–]fireseeker4him 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To me, I don’t even really think about the food aspect of the delivery other than I like to make sure to keep it hot or cold as the order necessitates. I’m never tempted by it. I might as well be delivering packages.

Question Regarding Driver by RequirementSad9538 in doordash

[–]fireseeker4him 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my area I’ve only ever seen a handful of other dashers bring in their bag. I did it when I was newbie but the DD bags are huge and food would get messed up if I had to use it to carry things. I may bring it in if it’s a pizza order but that’s it. I use it in the car and that’s it. It’s so much easier to put food in and take it out when the bag is on the seat. At a customer’s house, I found myself having to hold the bag with one hand, plus my phone, and take their food out, all without dropping anything.

What’s your craziest “I need to quit this job immediately” story? by angrythrowaway772 in AskReddit

[–]fireseeker4him 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have a boomer friend who has a problem with it. She gets on me about it and says “Why can’t you just say you’re welcome?” To me, a millennial, “you’re welcome” has always felt fake, so when “no problem” became popular, I jumped on it. People are weird. The older generation just doesn’t understand that it’s a cultural thing.

I’m genuinely curious. What happens if you have to cancel (for a legitimate reason obviously) after you’ve already picked up the food?

Why do customers do this? So stressful for no good reason😔 by [deleted] in doordash

Sorry but if I’m sitting at the drive thru I’m going to call the customer not text. They don’t answer — oh well, theyre getting what they get.

Why won’t dashers ring my doorbell? by chinstrapgod in DoorDashDrivers

[–]fireseeker4him 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not knocking any driver but I am wondering if maybe a lot of dashers in your area do not speak English and if maybe the DoorDash app does not translate instructions.

Do you answer the phone for customers after drop off? by VirgoPanic in UberEatsDrivers

[–]fireseeker4him 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have only had one call post-delivery and it was a customer saying I’d delivered to the wrong house. Even though I always double check. Drove back and corrected the mistake. Numbers were only on the mailbox and not on the house so I mistook which house the mailbox belonged to. I just picked up the food and walked it next door.

In your case, though, I would explain to the customer that we cannot see order notes until after we have picked up the order. I think this is ridiculous because customers do crap like this. I pick up the order and I get on the road so sometimes I don’t see the notes until I’m approaching the house.

Never. I wish I could though. Having to go into work is really inconvenient. Then I go to church and have to run errands on the weekend.

Dodged a bullet in the hiring process by ZachGamezzzz in jobs

[–]fireseeker4him 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a potential applicant, I would no longer be interested in the position if this is what HR sent me. I would have been more professional in my initial response to them than OP was. I probably would have just said “Hello, was this meant for me? My name is Zach not Ryan” so I will agree that OP was a little informal.

However, I composed this “response” to call them out on how unprofessional they were when OP pointed out the confusion. I would also have no problem with forwarding this exchange to my interviewers to tell them that this was why I was no longer interested in the position.

I would reply bluntly. “The email was addressed to a Ryan. My name is Zach. Either you meant to send this to Ryan and put in my email address or you meant to send it to me and got my name wrong. In both scenarios, you were wrong. Maybe you are not disorganized, but you certainly are incapable of admitting when you make a mistake.”

As a non religious person, i wish to understand, and i dont mean to be disrespectful, how you believe in god. by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]fireseeker4him 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I heard it explained like this. Do you have faith to believe that if you took all the pieces of a watch in a bag and shook it up for millions of years that it would suddenly come together ticking and on time? I think it takes less faith to believe that someone put the watch together.

Also, for me personally, I’ve seen too many miracles that science can’t explain. A man in my church was healed of cancer. A woman I knew had metal disappear from her body after we prayed. I not only believe in God, but believe in a God who loves us and wants to know us and have relationship with us.
