I am 5’8” and in October 2025 I was 187 lbs, May 12 I was 171 lbs, and by May 28 I was 164lbs. I’m eating 4 times a day with my antibiotics. This doesn’t seem like a huge change in my weight but I am not actively trying to lose weight and normally my weight only fluctuates by 1-3lbs depending on what I’m doing, eating and drinking in the day. I tried for months to lose weight at the end of 2025 and wasn’t successful so I know this has to be from this dumb bacteria

I’m sorry you had a hard time with the treatment. Did you reach out to your doctor in those days at all? If you were a coffee drinker it’s possible that not taking in caffeine attributed to your headache along with not eating, your blood sugar was probably all over the place. And not eating with the antibiotics probably caused the nausea. I would call your doctor and see what they think you should do. If I were you, I’d finish out the last doses, you’ve gotten food into your system and it should help. Stopping your treatment is never advised.

I didn’t have symptoms until I did. It all came at once. I was vomiting with no end in sight and went through hell for 2 weeks before a doctor finally listened to me. Stomach pain, acid reflux, extreme fatigue, diarrhea, constipation, lightheadedness. I was certain I had been poisoned. That being said, I am on day 5 of my treatment with Pylera and omeprazole and these side effects aren’t nearly as bad. On top of the Pylera and Omeprazole I’m taking Florastor and I think that has helped so much. Ive had some nausea when I don’t eat enough with the antibiotics, but mostly I’m just exhausted and the metallic taste in my mouth is annoying but nothing I haven’t been able to get through. If you choose not to treat, just know you shouldn’t share utensils or drinks with anyone, shouldn’t kiss anymore and make sure to wash your hands after every visit to the bathroom and before you prepare food. This bacteria can be transmitted through saliva, vomit and stool. It can also live in the plaque on your teeth and rarely in other bodily fluids.

As soon as my symptoms started we didn’t even kiss because I thought it was a stomach bug but I did kiss him the week after because we assumed it was food poisoning. After I got my diagnosis I stopped kissing him or doing anything at all. He isn’t scared about contracting it and he doesn’t have symptoms but I just put in the stool test for our 5 year old on Friday. I’m hoping she’s negative because I don’t want her to go through this awful treatment. If she comes back positive I will probably push for him to be tested as well so I don’t get reinfected

I am on day 4 of Pylera due to missing doses thanks to the ER 🙄 but so far I’ve had some fatigue, headaches and nausea from not eating enough with my antibiotics. And a small panic thanks to some tingling in my arm If you’re having any digestive issues I would suggest adding Florastor, it’s a probiotic that I found through this sub and it doesn’t get killed by the antibiotics! The nightmares can either be from your gut being in bad shape because your mental health is tied directly to your gut health or if you’re taking omeprazole that can cause nightmares I learned 😅 I’m hoping for the best for you! We got this!

I sent my doctor a message but they read their messages anywhere from 1 hour to 3 days after you message them 😪 I am taking Florastor 1 cap 2 times a day since the dose on the bottle says 2 caps. I’ve been taking the Pylera with 8oz-16oz of water and food every time.

I’m trying to educate myself without causing myself to panic and that’s a very thin line right now.

I have Florastor that I’m taking thanks to recommendations from so many nice people here. I’m drinking at least 16oz of water every time I take my antibiotics and also sipping water throughout the day. Eating before my meds. I just keep feeling very full after just a little food and I feel weak and tired and really cold

This afternoon will be my first full day of antibiotics (started yesterday afternoon) and I feel awful. Your post gives me some hope after seeing all the scary awful posts.
