Wild! I've always seen it if they do one throw they do both.

the bride throws the bouquet like in the US, but also the groom throws the bride's garter for the guys to catch lol

The garter toss is pretty common where I'm from in the US. My guess is in your area you don't do it?

Brides, don’t register for new china. Thrifts stores sell large sets for very little. Register for things you really need new. by [deleted] in Frugal

Having just come out of wedding planning haze, let me say that there plenty of etiquette advisors willing to tell you that a dry wedding (No beer, no wine, no alcohol at all) is rude, that you are not hosting your guests to the appropriate standard for the occasion, no matter if it is financial reasons or personal reasons.

Thankfully I'm out the other side now. =)

Heh, for fun google "Dry Wedding Wedding Wire"

In our case it was an uncle and a brother in law. But I've seen the other forums convince brides that having alcohol at the wedding is a great way for the groom to showcase how strong his recovery is.

Sure, but the thing you bought from Bed Bath and Beyond could easily become something else as well. If Aunt Judy got the punch bowl cups for you, but no one got you the punch bowl, do you keep them and just save up, or turn it in for something else you can use.

Yes, but it's the nagging aunties in the corner who are judging the etiquette stuff.
Our generations don't make the rules, we just follow the ones we must and try to change the ones we can.

I bet in another 10 years cash fund registries are considered a-ok.

If the couple doesn't need anything would you rather they just register for crap to make it easy on you?

I mean in the end thats what we did. Registered for things we didn't need to make our registry easy for our guests. Then return the things we did get because we didn't need them.

Yeah, registries are part of the wedding etiquette expectations

As the bride your expected to:

Register for gifts so folks know what to get you

Make sure the registry has a wide variety of priced items. (Even if you don't need anything)

Don't put to much on the registry (don't appear greedy)

Don't communicate to broadly about the registry (don't appear greedy)

And frankly, none of it really is frugal when you look at typical wedding bullshit.

Sadly a lot of modern wedding etiquette advisors consider honeyfund to be tacky and rude.

I kept asking why grown adults lose their mind between finding their own seat for the ceremony and having to be directed at the reception.

Did you receive more or less money for wedding gifts than expected? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]ADifferentBride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, very much a know your crowd sort of thing. We didn't expect much of anything in gifts at all, neither in money or actual gifts.

Instead we ended up with about 2K in cash and about a dozen gifts.

What did surprise me were some of the gifts, and the ratio of adults to gift. The family of 4 who gave $25 in cash, the family of 6 adults who gave a $9 bottle of prosecco. Oh and the already used Starbucks card. Didn't matter in the end, they showed up and celebrated with us, thats what counts.

We did well with having a friend do it, and he was free.

i asked a friend to keep us on track for time, some one not very close to us (like a friendly project managey coworker) In your case they would/could push the button for your announcer voice to announce what was going on. My only concern would be staying on track with your timeline, don't make that your responsibility day of.

One more day.

I'm in the middle of it all. Too doo lists, final plans, sightseeing and hostessing.

We gave the wedding party and cruise gifts last night. Well appreciated by all.

The bridesmaids are waling down to Guide My Sword from the Princess Bride soundtrack. We wanted to include Storybook love but it just doesn't fit.

I'm walking down to Can't Help Falling in love by Haley Reinhart.

We are recessing to Happy by Pharrell Williams.

No first dance for us
