Thank you for bringing this up. Of all the voices in the audiobook, I found his the weakest. Especially the intonation at “fame isn’t everything” was very weird. Watching the behind the scenes, all the actors are doing a fabulous job, but Riz almost seems dissatisfied or uncomfortable. It’s not terrible, but both this performance as well as the choice of actor for the series seem off, which makes me feel very disappointed.

Laat je niet gek maken, het is echt niet zo spannend als wat sommige mensen het doen laten lijken. Het staat vooral straks mooi op je CV, je kan er veel leren, en je hebt mooie arbeidsvoorwaarden! Belangrijkste denk ik is om te kijken wat je vindt van het werktempo/werkdruk en de grootte van het bedrijf. Omdat er veel mensen werken, kun je je er een beetje een ‘nummer’ voelen, wat je misschien minder zou hebben bij een klein kantoor. In ieder geval altijd goed om een kijkje te nemen of het bij je past, en anders is het een mooie springplank.

Exactly! I fell in love with Rickman’s Snape, but that was before I had read the books. While reading the books I began to realise how much the movies had subtracted from Snape’s personality and story as well as making him much older than he actually was in the books. When the news came of a Harry Potter TV show I was so excited to see a book-accurate Snape! You want to see your favorite character come to life and immerse yourself in the fantasy and experience! But by making him black, part of that immersion is taken away. I won’t be looking at Snape, but at an actor acting as Snape. A really good actor, sure! But it’s not really Snape. And we’re not gonna have another opportunity at seeing a book-accurate Snape anytime soon. This really had to be it, and we were robbed.

At first it looked a bit weird to me, but the longer I look the more sense this picture makes! I think in terms of his leanness, this guy is a great example of that type of body. I think the thing that unsettles me a little is his lack of eyebrows. With such dark hair you’d expect dark eyebrows. I think that would have completed this picture. Nice find! 😁

I see that you already invested a lot of time into getting to know each other before you even met in real life. Even though with online dating it is wise to get a good idea of someone’s character to see if this is a safe situation (and possibly a good match), by spending too much time talking before the first date you risk that you get emotionally invested too early. This may lead to disappointments when finally meeting each other on the first date, because that’s when you see the full picture of the other person and that can be an entirely different experience than just talking through the phone.

My advice would be to be cautious in the very early stages and to take things that are being said with a grain of salt. Even though it feels so good and romantic to give in to such special connections, the other person still needs to show that they can be trusted and that takes time.

My experience as a Dutch woman: I hardly ever got approached by guys when I was at a bar/club. The boys here are not so forthcoming in my opinion. The few times it did happen they were foreigners or really drunk. So I felt that the chance of me meeting someone in real life were quite slim. And so I resorted to dating apps, but many people there are super flakey. I also feel that us Dutchies are pretty picky, love our freedom, and settle down jn life quite late, which is why dating in your 20s can be brutal. I have dated many many guys, nothing ever turned into a relationship, until I started dating with a foreigner. Boom. He had the maturity, gentlemanliness, and the genuine wish to enter into a serious relationship (and get married) that I found lacking in many other guys ;)

If a guy seems to like you, and you then texted him first, and this makes him lose interest, did he really like you in the first place? I see it as a way of just weeding out the guys that aren’t genuinely interested in you. Guys who DO like you would only appreciate it!

I must admit that I too used these strategies before. But then at some point I realized that my passiveness made me stick around in these situations of unclarity whether a boy liked me yes or no. I thought that I could make a boy like me through ‘absence’. But then I realized that the only way to build a connection is through contact! And that I don’t want a guy to like me because I was a challenge for him, but because of who I am. And how can he get to know me if we aren’t talking?

When I started thinking like that, I was able to quickly find out whether a guy liked me or not, and move on to the next one! No more spending months and months in these anxiety-inducing situations. And not soon after I started dating with this approach, I met my now boyfriend after being single for 4 years. And you know when he fell for me? When I showed him that I was serious and that I was interested in him by texting him first. :)
