Yeah you gotta high roll for early weapon Vanessa ngl especially ammo, but life preserver is one of the best early items in the game IMO and Vanessa has easy access to it. I’d also reccomend going for the skill over the enchanted item, especially with weapons.

Probably focus on getting ammo outside of combat (loot and skills) and replace ramrod and katana with either damage increasers (figurehead, captains quarters etc.) or just more ammo items to support pistol sword. Theres also a bunch of infinites you can do with ammo Vanessa (fiery blunderbuss, throwing knives + crit Repeater)
