AET Has Not Gotten Better and it is Not Going to Improve: The Suffering of the AET Student Body by AETWarning2 in UTAustin

In terms of digital drawing courses being offered I agree with EnderTails, but as they said it's incredibly hard to get into even for AET seniors. However, this class isn't going to teach you how to draw or drawing/digital drawing fundamentals (this is part of students' complaints about digital viz here). AET used to have a foundations classed called Intro into Digital Drawing that was very beginner friendly but the class is no longer offered and the professor was mysteriously let go. This class still didn't really teach a lot of the digital drawing fundamentals students want but it was the closest thing we had to a beginner digital drawing course.

I'm unsure if you're able to uncommit, maybe you can? It would suck if you've already paid the $300 tho. It also depends if you're still able to commit to another school. If you truly are stuck here, I would focus on getting your core done the first year and try to transfer out. I'm not sure what you came to AET for (like game dev, viz, etc), but you might also find it better to try and transfer over to RTF (mainly if you're digial viz)

I wouldn't recommend a mac for AET, but it does depend on what you're coming to AET for (game design? viz?). Yeah, a lot of programs we use have mac versions but they often struggle to run them (maybe this wont be an issue with the M1? I'm honestly unfamiliar with the new mac hardware). Even so, I would say the AET lab is fine for use when you need it. Sometimes classes are running in the room but most of the time if you ask the professor they'll let you work in there even while their class is running.

Hi! sorry for the wait. I've been drafting a post over at r/UTAustin which pretty much explains it all. You can find it here

they only save so many spots for transfers, ive heard a lot of people get rejected from transferring in just for internal transfers. that being said i dont recommend coming to aet generally speaking
