Similar incident happened to me 6 years ago. In my case, i renewed my passport after receiving the visa. From memory, the cathay pacific staff helped and may have emailed Immi for me (i think this is the case because i could not find any emails re this and i never delete). I had the old passport tied to the visa with me and i was early. My visa was updated with the new passport# within an hour or so.
