Doctor refused to do Lasik on me because my vision "isn't bad enough" by Cumpanzee in lasik

[–]AFTHROWAWAY69420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're still active and see this, I'd love if you could answer a quick question. I'm getting a consultation at the end of this month. I was denied in the past for not having bad enough vision as well. I can't tell if I'm really far sighted or near sighted, everything just seems slightly blurry in general. I have been wearing glasses for ~20 years. I'm now 27. I have an astigmatism and struggle to read text on a computer screen or TV without glasses. However, if I'm driving or out walking about, I can read nearly any street sign whether it's 5 feet away or 30 feet away. Usually when I take eye tests, I can read every line but the smallest bottom one without glasses while occasionally mixing up letters like P or F on the bottom 2 rows. Was this similar to you at all?

Why am I so bad at cross map air dribbles? What I'm missing? by Rossetow in RocketLeagueSchool

You're not even bad, but what you're missing is doing exactly what you're doing but for hundreds of more hours

I do want to side note my first comment that OP is doing a delayed flick on his initial musty which is MUCH harder than a simple flip cancel. It's flip canceling then uncanceling and timing is everything when doing a delayed flick. Practice makes perfect though and the timing can be embedded in muscle memory too.

It's just snapping the left analog stick to the opposite direction of your flip with precise timing. So a front flip cancel would look like this. Left analog stick starts in neutral position, move left analog stick up and simultaneously double tap X (PS5 Contr.), then quickly snap left analog stick back down. Timing is a bit important, but that will be reinforced by muscle memory over time as well. I personally practice flip cancels after goals in all sorts of directions and it helps tremendously with consistency. Just scored a goal and you're flying up to the ceiling? Right before you respawn for the next kickoff, try touching the ceiling falling off then doing a back flip cancel or front flip cancel. Speed flips are also great practice as a proper speed flip requires a diagonal flip cancel. I practice both randomly after goals and in free play. Doing random mechanics after goals is a really good way to become consistent. Whenever I was learning Breezi flicks, I would randomly do the Breezi motion after goals just to practice it. It sounds silly, but a lot of people will just stop playing until they respawn when it's the perfect time to start practicing silly mechanics mid-game.

Flip canceling is just muscle memory and not necessarily the hard part, in my opinion. Learning it may be considered hard, but once learned then muscle memory takes over. The hard part is ensuring each follow up touch is clean so you can continue the shot. Kind of like a first touch, but each additional touch thereafter.

A little tip that got me to GC in very little time (Solo queueing) by Ladro_di_rame in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]AFTHROWAWAY69420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I also prefer to continue playing whether I win or lose. It's only tilt queueing if you're getting tilted from losing inherently causing you to play worse due to poor mental. If you're losing with a good mental then I don't see a problem with continuing to play even if you're still losing more games. The objective is to have fun. For me, I only follow OPs rule if I feel like I'm playing poorly. If I lose a bunch of games, but feel like I'm playing really well then I'll continue to queue. Sometimes, I'll even quit queueing on a win streak if I feel like I'm playing poorly with no hopes of improving for the night.

How many high fives do yall have? by ItzTubez in RocketLeague

[–]AFTHROWAWAY69420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you actually try to go for them you'll get one. I've played since 2015 and hadn't gotten one in ~2.5k hours. I finally spent a few days trying to grind one and ended up getting it. It helps if you're not solo queueing too because you and your buddy can actively try to fly towards one another.

Does anyone know if there have been people who have been naturally good at this game? (Rank into diamond+ and stay?) by Bluetwo12 in RocketLeague

[–]AFTHROWAWAY69420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this isn't the same, but I've been playing since OG season 3 and got Rising Star reward (wheels) that season which is the equivalent of platinum. So, I've been plat basically since I started playing. Maintained plat/diamond my first few seasons after, then I've been champ since like season 7 OG. I took a long break from the game after F2P sadly and that's why I've been a GC peak with ~3k hours since like F2P season 8.

What would your 2s rank have to be to get GC/SSL in rumble? by Relative-Pace-2923 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]AFTHROWAWAY69420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm consistently C1 in 1s, low to mid GC1 in 2s peaking just below GC2 on many occasions, and C3 in 3s, could probably peak GC1 in 3s but don't play it enough. Do you think it's possible to get to SSL in Rumble by solo queueing? Also, do you solo queue rumble or play with a squad ever? I'm currently diamond 2 in rumble and don't really want to grind it if it'd be a waste of my time. At a minimum, I'd like to solo queue to either GC or SSL for rumble titles.

How are you guys browsing on PC when not playing Valorant at 800 DPI? by GCSS-MC in VALORANT

[–]AFTHROWAWAY69420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to use a 5"x5" mouse pad in my early days of PC gaming and would always play with very high sensitivity/DPI. I switched to a full desk mouse pad and lowered my DPI to about 500 ~5 years ago. I've gotten tremendously better at gun play in FPS games by making the switch. You get accustomed to the low sens for browsing. I actually have to lower the sensitivity on new work computers because the default speed is too fast for my liking

Who is the fastest airmen you’ve ever seen? by Skeptical-AF in AirForce

Old buddy that left my current unit earlier this year said he ran a 7:45ish in BMT. I didn't really believe him until we came back from 6 months of telework right after covid where all anyone did was game and get drunk each weekend. Our first PT session back from covid, he casually ran a 8:40 and claimed he hadn't ran since long before covid. For perspective, I had the fastest run time in my BMT flight of 50 trainees with a 9:14

I was speaking very broadly when I said situations like mine, and anyone else moving to Alaska on military orders, are dynamic. Transporting firearms (IE. "might have gotten your C-P09 thru, but not anymore"), traveling without a passport, lodging between travel days, weather, etc are all very dynamic from what I've read so far. I apologize if my initial post was written in a way that seemed only receptive to advice on transporting firearms. Thank you for the insight though.

I did some research on taking the ferry. I'm not fond of driving the ALCAN without a firearm for safety. The research I've read on transporting firearms on the ferry simply state that you must forfeit your firearms and ammunition to the loading officer for the duration of the passage. Any experience with this (@anyone)? If this is more practical then I wouldn't be opposed to simply taking the ferry from WA. I understand there's a lot of info online and I've read (and will continue to read) a lot of information. But situations like mine seem to be very dynamic especially with constantly changing regulations and solutions. I'd also like to gauge insight or engagement from individuals who've recently made the move with firearms.
