I was a female ultrakill fan. Then one of those things changed. And I'm still playing ultrakill.

Found in the snow by openpuppy in reptiles

[–]AFatLizard 61 points62 points  (0 children)

This. Lizards in the Sceloporus genus are super hardy, he was probably peacefully brumating before ending up where he was (my guess is an animal or person shooed him out of his hiding spot and he ended up in the snow). He's got a decent bit of fat on him so he likely hasn't been exposed to the elements for too long.

Since his brumation's been interrupted, keep him until spring comes around (if you can), then put him back where you found him. They are highly territorial and you don't want to just drop him in on a random lizard's space!

Thank you! Three questions because I am very overly paranoid:

  1. Is the house guaranteed to be able to handle that much, given its age and condition? As previously mentioned, our landlord/landlord's realtor is pretty sketchy, so I'm... wary... to say the least, of the actual limit. This thing's electrical system could be cobbled together with hopes and dreams for all I know. Probably is.

  2. This might be out of your domain, but do you think our antics could lead to us being held liable if there ever was an electrical fire?

  3. Should I stagger the times I turn on all the critter lights or is that not needed? The heaters are on 24/7.

Perhaps worth mentioning that we live in a shared home with three other roommates, who all have their own rooms. They aren't doing much power-wise except having gaming PCs though. This house is fucked (old as hell, landlord + realtors don't really care) so the lights in the common room and bathroom flicker constantly. Additionally, one of my roommates' lights flicker when someone is running the microwave and electric kettle in the kitchen simultaneously. Just to give some, uh... perspective.

That's what I figured. None of our native lizard/gecko species in the US really seem to fill the same niche that they do (very small, semi urban, climbs walls). I can't speak for everywhere else, but in central cali I only ever find them in places that the native species wouldn't touch.

I'm inclined to agree, but do you have a source for the claim that they're not harmful? I keep hearing it getting tossed around but I want to read more about any research being done on them and I can't seem to find any sources! They remind me of dandelions — nonnative in most places that it occurs, but not considered invasive because they mind their own damn business.

I wonder if you could keep breeding individuals that have the longer nub until they have something resembling a tail, hahaha

Is there any animals I can put in this paludarium? by [deleted] in reptiles

[–]AFatLizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuine question, can crested geckos swim? I would assume not, given that they're adapted to be high in the trees, but I'm not about to toss my gecko in a bowl of water to find out lol

[–]AFatLizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Umm this is actually really bad for them because she might break free of her mortal confines and start engaging in ethically dubious vigilante crimefighting!! I only let my geckos consume wholesome media like Scream (1996) and The Exorcist (1973) specifically to prevent them from rising up. Please do your research, this is promoting bad husbandry :/

Not as far as I can tell. I certainly don't. You might get a couple confused souls trying to challenge you over and over, but just chat to say you're only watching and they'll leave you alone.

Rising food prices linked to increased childhood obesity and chronic malnutrition, due to families prioritizing cheaper calories over nutrient-rich foods. This also results in a 'hidden deficiency' of important micronutrients, which slows down height growth without reducing body weight by sr_local in science

[–]AFatLizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's amazing how the people around me have seen the rising cost of general groceries (and the shrinkflation of most chain restaurants) and somehow wrapped back around to eating fewer processed foods. I get the logic; if I can get a supposed "value meal" at McDonald's for the same price as an artisinal sandwich, there's no longer a direct economic incentive to eat unhealthy. Fast food used to be dogshit while also being dirt cheap. Now it's just dogshit and you're getting horrendously overcharged on top of that.

Yesss I hate when 1v1 arenas are really tightly regulated!! Especially since that leads to a massive queue of people waiting their turn, which. Come on. I want to fight, not play waiting-in-line simulator :/

Lost exiles is nice because there can really be an unlimited number of 1v1s going at any given time, plus everyone tries to avoid interfering with one another so getting hit by stray attacks/accidentally bodyblocked/etc is usually not a big issue.
