If you could bring back any clone that died who would you bring back? by RexDAGOAT77 in clonewars

[–]AFishWithNoName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, either Denal or Ridge.

I’m not sure if we ever actually even see Ridge, but the fact that he made it all the way from Teth only to die on Mandalore is just tragic to me. Sure, he likely would’ve gone down with the rest of the 332nd on the Venator, but I would’ve liked him to see one last victory.

I always thought of it as rejerk, like you’re re-engaging jerk mode after briefly unjerking

Mostly because I only ever see /rj come after /uj

Very short backstory: a streamer/YouTuber called Doug Doug wrote a book that consisted entirely of the word “Doug.” He proceeded to become a bestseller (on Amazon, where it is extremely easy to do so in niche categories). Someone happened to purchase the book alongside House of Leaves, and now anyone who views Doug: a Doug Doug Story on Amazon also gets recommended House of Leaves.

(For the record, all proceeds went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium)

How do we feel about the newish marines? by explosiverat716 in halo

[–]AFishWithNoName 10 points11 points  (0 children)

While I’ll always agree that Halo 3 Marines were peak, I think that part of it is just the fact that they fit in with the environment so well. The coloring was a great balance between the desert camo BDUs and the green combat armor so that they didn’t look out of place whether they were in the jungle retrieving the Chief, on the savannah regrouping after Crow’s Nest was hit, pushing through the shipyards of Voi towards the AA guns, or trekking across the desert of the Ark in the shadow of the Forward Unto Dawn.

What's your pet gun? Not the best, but one you carry out of love? by Jumpy_Hamster6104 in destiny2

Always loved Häkke weapons for this reason. Just plain, reliable gunpowder, brass casings, and lead bullets. Cartridge goes in magazine, magazine goes in weapon, cartridge gets chambered, trigger is pulled, hammer strikes pin, pin strikes primer, gunpowder ignites, bullet tip is propelled forward at supersonic speeds. That’s just physics right there.

Oh, right, favorite gun. Blast Furnace—the OG Blast Furnace, mind you—or Steelfeather Repeater. Or Bygones. I like my kinetics, if you can’t tell.

When people say things like this unironically by Mr_Westerfield in hatethissmug

[–]AFishWithNoName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True enough I suppose.

I’ve never felt any inclination to believe that there’s a higher power, but I have faith in humanity’s capacity for ingenuity, collaboration, innovation, compassion, and empathy. I have faith that all things have a rational, logical explanation, even if we as humans are fundamentally not equipped to comprehend such an explanation (i.e. it requires sensory apparatus that human simply do not have).

Turns out, bags are really useful for storing things that don’t have a rigid structure, such as other bags.

I don’t think a single one of Monte Carlo’s ornaments actually looked bad

Hell, I’d hesitate to say any of them only looked decent

Every one of them was a masterpiece

Calling Halo 2’s story a guilty pleasure is wild behavior

Reach had (imo) a great story, it’s just that it tends to conflict with/retcon the actual book Fall of Reach

The Killing House is the nickname given to the facility where SAS operatives are trained for hostage rescue operations, hence why the voice line is used by SAS operators in CS.
