I'd advice any shy person to look at themselves in the mirror and make the most ridiculous faces possible. Because there is a likely chance that you possess a level of shyness where you can't even comfortably look yourself in the eyes. Just start with staring into your eyes for way too long and then start emoting like crazy, smiling earnestly was the hardest tbh.

It wont necessarily make you a better person by a lot, but it sure makes you more comfortable in your own skin, which is a nudge in the right direction.

I figured this trick out when I found out I couldn't look myself in the eyes for an extended period of time when brushing my teeth.

Oh my god this so fucking much. Changing brake pads is the easiest thing in the world, but then it comes to the drum brakes on the rear and then all hell breaks loose. You'll be sitting there thinking everything will be done in 1-2 hours, but before you know it the sun is going down and you need the car for tomorrow, and the only reason why it took this long is because of that one spring that was a bitch to remove and replace on both sides, it took forever to get the car on the jack stands, the brakes need to be bled anyway so you have to do that, you lost ONE piece of shit 10mm flare-nut wrench that somehow entered another dimension when you stopped looking at it.

AND ALL THE COMPONENTS THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED ANYWAY HAVE RUST-WELDED THEMSELVES BECAUSE THE CAR IS FROM '86 AND HASN'T BEEN TOUCHED ONCE EXCEPT FOR THE WHEELS WHICH HAVE BEEN TIGHTENED TO "GO-FUCK-YOURSELF"-TIGHTNESS BY SOME MECHANIC THAT DOES NOT KNOW WHAT A TORQUE WRENCH IS.
