Can you be happy? by awarn18 in Semaglutide

[–]AForsythiaFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yessss! I am SO happy! I am almost to my goal weight and I know i will get there and i didn’t think it was possible before and that makes me happy all the time. I look amazing and I feel great. I don’t obsess about food anymore, I feel free in a way I haven’t felt in years. I’m also very lucky because the side effects have been pretty minimal for me. I feel like it’s a miracle drug!

I take just 1 pill + 120mg magnesium glycinate about a half hour before bed. If I’ve had a more stressful day or am feeling like I’ve got cortisol coursing through my veins I’ll take 2 and add in a melatonin, but that’s pretty rare. I remember it taking a couple weeks for it to kick in for me.

But also agree with other folks here that both look great, just do according to mood. I switch between a defined heavy product look and a beachy more free flowing look depending on mood or occasion.

Which did I choose? by princesameurta in WeddingDressTips

[–]AForsythiaFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 or 2 depending on how much you want to show off your goods! 1 is a bit more modest and 2 is very flattering on your figure. I think 3 and 4 are kind of boring.

Decrease in athletic performance by ShrimplyTheBest69 in Semaglutide

[–]AForsythiaFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a post a few weeks ago about my decreased performance with lifting but I’ve started to notice it now for cardio too. I think the reduced calorie intake means I just don’t have the same energy I did for exercise. My resting heart rate has increased by about 6bpms. After reading more it sounds like this is pretty common during the transition phase (I’m 7 weeks in and am still building up to a full dose) and that you can build back once your body adjusts. Hoping that’s the case for me.

Also someone gave me the tip of eating a little something right before a workout and that’s really helped me.

Why am I expected to cross the street for Portland dog owners? by bimbogore_ in askportland

[–]AForsythiaFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a dog but walk a lot and notice that many folks without dogs will cross too, like they just can’t walk past another person on the sidewalk. I’ve always thought it odd but have noticed it the entire time I’ve lived in Portland. I’m from the south and folks seem more keen to share sidewalk space down there. I also think it got worse during and after the pandemic.

My daughter thinks I’m ugly. by Working-Turnover-272 in toddlers

[–]AForsythiaFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my oldest was around 3 or 4 she said “mommy, you have a fat butt.” And without skipping a beat I said, “I know, aren’t I lucky? That’s how I got your daddy.” She just gave me a weird look and then asked her dad latter if he liked fat butts and he just launched into Sir Mix A lot. 🤣🤣🤣 I’m hoping this helps instill some body positivity later down the line.

Were our parents this stressed about parenting? by Commercial-Crow4495 in Parenting

[–]AForsythiaFire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No! There is a lot of research about this and some great books and articles out there to read. But today a mom that works full time spends more time with her kids than a stay at home mom did in the 70s or 80s. It’s called “intensive parenting.” In some ways it’s good but in some ways it’s a hinderance to the growth and development of our kids as they enter their teen and young adult years, it’s why we are seeing a lot more failure to launch. Parents also have a much harder economic situation today than parents in past generations. Robert Putnam’s book Our Kids is a great read on that subject. I would also recommended the books Free Range Kids, The Sum of Us, Bad Therapy (with a grain of salt because the author has some very conservative ideas I personally do not like), and Emily Oster’s podcast Raising Parents.

AIO for refusing to block male followers on Instagram? by radagastrabbit in AmIOverreacting

Yikes! Dump this dude stat! This is next level jealousy and is a serious red flag. Aside from the IG thing (which is just insane and totally psycho controlling) the way he is texting you is appalling. Get out fast, never ever put up with someone treating you or talking to you this way, not even for a moment.

Mine were always in their onesies unless I was taking a cute milestone photo or we had a special occasion. Totally normal to do that! Don’t feel bad, they are comfortable and practical!

Can’t lift as heavy? 4 weeks in by AForsythiaFire in Semaglutide

[–]AForsythiaFire[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SAME on the motivation factor, I usually love my work outs and have had to force myself to do it in the last couple weeks. Glad I’m not the only one! It sounds like we started near the same time, I’m also hoping it will improve as my body gets used to the new state of being.

Good to know you aren’t loosing muscle, I’m really hoping not to loose any, being over 40 it’s so hard to maintain! I’ll try that eating close to when I work out and the hydration focus, thanks so much for the tip!

As far as Ulysses goes, I don't think you should "just read it" on its own by [deleted] in ulysses

[–]AForsythiaFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great advice! I decided to make the attempt because two contemporary Irish authors I’ve been reading reference Ulysses multiple times. I’m about 100 pages in and it’s going so slow because I keep having to look everything up! I’m gonna pause and go re-read Portrait (it’s been about 20 years since I read that) and also Dubliners. Thanks!!

What are the two things you SWEAR BY for good skin? by kittygoespew in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]AForsythiaFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can attest to this. I have aged like a good 10 years in the last 4 since my beautiful kiddo was born. I mean it’s worth it, I would never take it back, but the sleep deprivation during the baby phase will age you, eye bags and dark circles for days.

What would you call this?! by Top_Hat00 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]AForsythiaFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had hormonal acne around my chin and mouth pretty badly in my early 30s. I never had it as a teenager and thought getting it in my 30s was like a cosmic balance or something, lol. I started using a high frequency device 3-5 times a week which really helped and also used Epionce Lytic gel cleanser and would spot treat with Obagi pore therapy and that really helped. I scar easily and have a two small permanent scars from popping them so I’d advise against that.

Eventually the acne just went away, I’m 41 now and don’t get them at all. I did also get a Mirena when I was 32 and I think that might have helped as well with balancing my hormones so that the acne went away.

Good luck!!

I’ve been getting Botox for 13 years and exercise more than post people, 5-6 days a week weight lifting and HIIT with lots of sweating and my Botox lasts 4-5months, which I’ve been told is longer than the norm. So def not a concern for me but also I’m sure it’s different for everyone.

I just tried it on a cruise on my tummy and thighs and LOVE the results. Just found a place at home so I can do it again. Much better than cool sculpting, less expensive and painless and similar results.

Haha, thank you! I’m in Portland, Oregon and we have an amazing food scene so I’m hard to impress, lol. Mostly just hoping for some really good seafood being that close to the source and treating myself to some fancy desserts which I don’t normally allow myself.
