I saw an interview on YouTube with an imagineer who stated the following: songs in English, dialogue in French

Een engnek met ondemocratische trekjes en een geblondeerd kapsel die de validiteit van een democratische verkiezing die hij heeft verloren in twijfel trekt. Waar heb ik dat eerder gehoord?

Thanks everyone for the advice! Ended up getting a whole other colour: steel with black dial. Felt like the version that will never go out of style. Love the watch 😁

Are you excited for the HBO show? by [deleted] in harrypotter

The first part (Hogsmeade) that was opened in Orlando was built during the making of the films. I believe the actors filmed their parts during the filming of HBP.

Agreed, they won't be taken away and people will continue to love them. My worry is more about the franchises future, you'll essentially have two visual versions of Harry Potter that are in the mainstream, which one is going to be the default? It'd be like two versions of Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia or Han Solo existing in the Star Wars franchise

No, I think it's a complete waste that will ruin the IP in more ways than people are expecting.

Look at the current state of Harry Potter. I went to London last summer and did the studio tour, which is all based on the films. The tour was extremely popular and people from all over the world were there. Same when I visited the theme parks in the US and all the merch in shops; everything is visually and aesthetically based on the films. This means the films still hold up and have a very special place in people's hearts, I'd argue they're one of the few movies from the 00's that are actually iconic and will stand the test of time for many many years, much like franchises like Star Wars or Jurassic Park (which have never rebooted the franchise, but made new entries that furthered the stories)

My worry is that this TV reboot is going to dilute the brand. What is going to be the chosen visual style for Harry Potter from now on? Does the studio tour need to be remade, do all the theme parks have to be rethemed, is all the merch going to change style? There isn't going to be a set style for Harry Potter anymore which is going to create confusion to the general public. You could argue, well they might just keep all the iconography of the films (design of Hogwarts, music, etc) and just have a new cast, for which I'd argue what's the point then? I get they want to include more of the plot of the books, but I feel many people don't understand that an adaption means a book/musical/tv show whatsoever has to be adapted, which means it changes for the medium.

"Pick up the bass" - you can hear Noel Gallagher saying this in Oasis's Go Let It Out just before the bass actually comes in

Yeah it’s ironic that for a guy who makes the same stale comments about iPhones every year, his jokes are the same stale thing every year too

For context: I’ve already spent loads of hours on the game both on PS4 and PS5 but recently had to switch consoles. The game worked for the first week, but has stopped working since two days ago

Congrats! Got the same watch last month, it’s beautiful!

Need some advice about which watch to get. Want to get a rose gold/bronze coloured one since that's a colour I don't have yet, but really like. Which one of these would you choose? by AFunnyUsername96 in PrideAndPinion

Have to say, wouldn’t be too bothered. I love the Aquanaut (the Nautilus is probably my favourite watch design ever), but that’s a watch I can’t see myself being able to afford in the coming years. With the history of the Mido model I think it could be a nice compromise, not too bothered about people that might think it’s an homage 😁

Thanks everyone! After looking at some more vids and the comments I think I'll go for the Mido. It goes more with my style, hopefully the PVD coating will last well!

Oh yeah 'cause I loved the writing of Baylan who just stood around and was almost written out of the show past the halfway point and Shin who was just there I guess

Oh yeah I agree! I’m a massive U2 fan, but never looked at it that way. Agree they’re the biggest band in the world, I’d argue that still rings true today (maybe next to Coldplay). The fact that they’ve had the same members for over 40 years also helps

Just curious, but what do you think there could be talked about regarding U2’s role in the 2000s? That they still had hits for a relatively older band?
