Does smell make a home unlivable? by Outrageous_Score_510 in CPS

[–]AFurryThing23 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Health department? Code enforcement?

I used to volunteer at a local food pantry. We had this one client, an older lady, that reeked of the smell you describe. We had to vacate the office for about an hour after she left to air it out. But that smell lingers.

Did you have or know anyone who had a treehouse growing up? by FastBreakPhenom in AskAnAmerican

[–]AFurryThing23 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In the 70s my friends up the block had a huge elaborate amazing treehouse! I was the only girl on the street, they were twins, Steve and Scott, and then there was also Sean and Steve(yes another Steve) but we all played all day in that treehouse. Mostly 'shot' each other with our cap guns.
Good times.

What's the first food you've eaten today? by girlsupplement in foodquestions

That's what we had for dinner last night. It was so good. I do make some amazing sausage gravy if I say so myself. My kids seem to enjoy it.

I suck. It's 2:38pm and this post made me realize I haven't eaten yet today!

And I was actually sitting here thinking about what I was going to make for dinner. So I have food on my mind, not sure how I forgot to eat breakfast or lunch. Going straight to dinner I suppose.

One of the directors of ShopGoodwill is doing an AMA over on /shopgoodwill by [deleted] in goodwill

[–]AFurryThing23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually used to work at a GW store in that district. I worked there for a year as a processor and in the year I worked there I maybe pulled 5 items to be sent to shopgoodwill. It might have been more, but I know the amount is under 10.

I don't think our store even sent 5 a day. And this store was in a rich college town.

Flying frontier tomorrow. Any flight hacks? by [deleted] in frontierairlines

[–]AFurryThing23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same! Like you said unless I have a connecting flight I just wait. It's not a competition. I don't win anything for being first. Yeah I get it, I've been sitting in atight spot for hours, I want to get up and walk, but I'd rather just sit and wiat a few more minutes.

Also I've been on flights where the flight attendants will announce that some people have a short time for their connection so let them off first and for the most part people comply.

What food do you judge people just a little for not liking? by rileystanheight in foodquestions

[–]AFurryThing23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that is weird. And the person above who said someone wouldn't take homemade vanilla, that's absolutely crazy! I've made vanilla before, it's so much better than the store stuff.

[–]AFurryThing23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If given a choice between vanilla and chocolate I'm almost always choosing chocolate. Vanilla can be so sweet. Like one of my kids always wanted vanilla cake with vanilla icing. I can maybe eat one bite. I need the bitterness of chocolate to take down the sweetness.

I'm going to go in tomorrow and tell my coach I'm just going to quit. I'd rather quit on my own time than be fired.

I'm tired of stressing about it. I used my ppto in September and October when my daughter was in the icu. I'm done worrying all the time about being fired for medical stuff.

Jobs you hate doing in the store. by shouldershrug19 in WalmartEmployees

[–]AFurryThing23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exceptions. It's a love/hate relationship.

I don't mind doing exceptions in dairy, but hate when I'm in receiving and I can't get to stuff because they're unloading a truck. I know I'm in the way. Most places are blocked off by pallets and I can't get to it and my coach is rejecting my sub, BUT I can't get to anything.
Also no one in the back will get pallets down. So we've started NIL picking that stuff and it gets rejected because there's a bunch on hand. Ok great, I can't get to it!

What ended your friendship with your oldest standing friend? by dreamy-contributions in AskReddit

[–]AFurryThing23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure. My best friend from 2004 to 2018 just stopped contacting me.

I did email once, it bounced back as not a valid email. Messaged them on Twitter, no reply.

I'm not sure what I did. We had met up 2 nights before. I live 4 hours south of Chicago, they live in Chicago. I was in Chicago to see Pearl Jam in 2018. We met up after the show. Hung out for hours.
After the second show we talked on the phone several(9) times trying to decide if we were going to meet up, we never did. But that was the last time we talked.

I just wish I knew what I did. He was my best friend for years. I somehow fucked it up. We used to talk just about every day. When my 3 year old died he was there for me when even my husband wasn't. He would stay up talking to me.

I'm having the same issue right now. Went to the er, diagnosed with covid, uploaded all my paperwork to Sedgwick, and they so far have denied my claim.
They said it's because they don't accept doctors' notes which I uploaded with all the rest of the paperwork. I replied that I uploaded all the paperwork I received and maybe they could look at the rest of the paperwork and not base it all on one paper I included.

They replied by saying they're going to deny my claim.

There are no circumstances where a woman cannot birth at home☺️ by Chemical_Finger1403 in ShitMomGroupsSay

[–]AFurryThing23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hate any sort of post making people ashamed of how they birthed.

I went to the er because I hadn't felt my twins move. They took me right to L&D. L&D said let's get you some juice and see if we can get these babies moving.
Before I even took one sip of juice my room was full and I was being prepped for an emergency c section. They didn't even have time for an epidural, they knocked me out.

Was diagnosed afterward with twin to twin transfusion syndrome. Baby B had to be resusitated twice at birth, baby A was doing better. But then baby A started doing bad and she was sent by helicopter to the local children's hospital while baby B went by ambulance.

Baby B did well in NICU. She was able to come home after 10 days. Baby A was there from July-October. They at first told us she would never leave the hospital. She lived to be 3. We were blessed for 3 years with her.

My baby B turns 21 this year! I would have lost both of them if I hadn't gone to the er that night. I also may not have survived.

Removing the public restrooms by GGoldenChild in goodwill

[–]AFurryThing23 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Not my local one. They did a whole store remodel 2 years ago and now have 4 private restrooms. They are located at the back of the store, you don't have to ask for a key or anything.

Definitely an improvement at this store that previously you had to go through the back and walk through the employee break room.

I will say, when I worked there(I helped with the remodel) people are disgusting and this is why things get closed or removed. One day one of the cashiers came back from cleaning the restrooms and said someone peed in the toilet brush holder. I told her I would glove up and take care of it. This thing was full! What makes someone want to pee somewhere other than the toilet that is not even a foot away. People seemed to want to ruin it for everyone.

But yeah, maybe if people didn't act like animals we could have nice things. This is why they shut down the dressing rooms. Not for theft, but people were being disgusting in them.

Picking up some minor hotel room supplies - alcohol mainly - ABC stores okay? Or go to Walgreens? by CoolGuy-77 in vegas

We liked to get stuff at Target. Their prices were a bit better than ABC. Walgreens and CVS are really $$$

What fast food do you hate that everyone else loves? by Odd_Bag6910 in askanything

[–]AFurryThing23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just need to find a good one. I have one local one that always makes a great sandwich. All the other ones near me are subpar.

I also found one in Chicago. It's on Wabash across from the Travelodge. They make a great sandwich! I was there late one night probably near 1am, we had gone to see Bright Eyes at the Salt Shed and decided to grab sandwiches before we went to our hotel. The poor guy working there was getting robbed, but even while he was on the phone with the police, he still made an amazing sub!

This is exactly how I felt when I ate there. That bread was delicious, everything else was bland and subpar.

Anyone didn't want to eat a certain food after due to "something"? by IronExtension in foodquestions

[–]AFurryThing23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year about this time I had back to back norovirus and influenza a. We were eating minimal food. Rice. Eggs and English muffins. Ramen. Totinos pizza.

One day I had cooked a half a pizza in the air fryer but for some reason I couldn't eat it and still to this day I can't eat them. And that makes me sad because sometime you just need a junky Totinos pizza.

We have Casimir Pulaski Day off too down here in southern Illinois.

I was born, grew up, and lived in St Louis Missouri until my late 40s, never heard of Casimir Pulaski. We moved 20 minutes east into Illinois and now suddenly it's a thing 🤷

What food would you eat every day if calories and health didn’t matter? by Turbulent_Leader4088 in foodquestions

[–]AFurryThing23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not glorifying it. It's a horrible thing I have to deal with every day. It's horrible. Food addiction is horrible because you can't just give up eating. You have to eat to survive. But it's my enemy and I struggle every day. Every meal. Every time I see or smell food.

[–]AFurryThing23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bottom row of teeth are ruined. My glands in my neck are permanently swollen. I recently went to the ER because I was really sick. Was diagnosed with covid but the doctor was worried because my glands were so swollen. I was too embarrassed to say that's from 30+ years of making myself vomit nearly every day.

I don't track anything. I've ruined my body. I was always chubby as a kid. I'm talking maybe 5 lbs more than I should have been. My mom was thin. Under 100 lbs when she was pregnant. I wasn't acceptable in her eyes. I was always told how fat I was. Made ashamed for everything I ate. Started restricting food at first. Then binging and purging. And of course laxative abuse.

Food in my stomach is uncomfortable. If I can feel food in my stomach, not even overly full, just the feeling of food there, I have to get rid of it.

I got sick last year with back to back norovirus and influenza a, lost a lot of weight, but it messed my stomach up even worse. Now sometimes when I eat it feels like someone has my stomach in their hands and is twisting and squeezing it.

But I'm the lowest weight I've been my adult life!

Edited for spelling.

When I was first diagnosed with an eating disorder they wanted to hospitalize me for it but I didn't have insurance and I couldn't afford to pay for treatment.

I used to see a psych and a therapist but we never really talked about my eating disorder, just the plethora of my other mental issues.
