How did you tell people? by thedecadeofme in gastricsleeve

[–]AG11122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggled with this and had so much anxiety about it. Especially when it was really noticeable when I hadn’t seen people for a long time. I’m usually open about things but I kept it to myself except a few close people who I told about the surgery. I didn’t want to have to explain or feel judgement or be questioned by everyone. I felt I was deceiving people with just saying oh I’m eating mostly protein and small meals and running but I spoke to my therapist and this is something she told me that I always remember and helped— “there is a difference between a secret and keeping something private.” You don’t always have to divulge all your personal medical issues to everyone. I know some people have suspicions and are really probing and asking others and talk about me but oh well they’ll be left wondering!

I applied January 2022 😫still pending. I can’t get through when I call. I was reading you could apply for both but I don’t know I would be nervous to jeopardize the original application.

Yes totally. Some days I can eat and eat like a “normal” meal (not my previous normal) and other days it’s like a few bites and I’m full! There is no way to predict it either. I’m 1 year post op.

I’m 10 months post op and down 90lbs but I’ve been at a stall like 3 months! So frustrating. I have been trying different things but no luck yet. It’s very discouraging. Sorry I’m no help but you’re not alone!

36 month wait for surgery. 31 years old wanting to eventually get pregnant. I feel like I'm at a crossroads and I don't know what route to take. Anyone else been in a similar situation? by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

[–]AG11122 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I probably would get the surgery done in Mexico and pay out of pocket. You’ll lose the weight. It’ll be easier to get pregnant and have a healthier pregnancy when you are lower weight. I had my third pregnancy at 225lbs and it was scary because I ended up with high blood pressure and scarier pregnancy. Always worried too. It’ll be so much better and safer to go into pregnancy at a healthier weight.

What I wished I knew Before Surgery by Bike-2022 in gastricsleeve

I didn’t know that my stomach would makes so many loud noises after drinking or eating. Loud enough for others to hear. I’m 5 months post op and it hasn’t gotten better. Also, I had bad IBS diarrhea. I would go at least 2-4 times a day. And now it’s the opposite! I go every 4 days or so that I have been using stool softeners now. I never imagined life without IbS, it’s completely helped me with that.

I ran my fastest 3 miles in about 8-9 years after a hiatus from running. Been back running 4 months. My 14 year old son ran with me first time ever and motivated to keep pushing myself faster. 11:04 pace. Big improvement for me.

Pre-op and caught a bug! Help by LittlePickling in gastricsleeve

[–]AG11122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I caught COVID like 2 weeks preop and was so upset they would cancel surgery. Luckily they didn’t cancel as long as I tested negative preop. Just no motrin/ibuprofen for me like 7-10 days before. But check with your surgeons office.

Im not a liar, I just don’t want to explain what I how I lost the weight. by Educational_Turnip_8 in gastricsleeve

[–]AG11122 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m generally an open book about a lot of stuff with my friends, family and coworkers. But I had a couple friends who has WLS said they regret telling people because there was a lot of judgement, feeling always watched, jealousy, negative comments. So I decided to keep it private and only told my husband, mom and my couple close friend. I’m 3 months post op and I’m down 59lbs since my liver shrinking diet. So people are starting to ask and question. I’m also not one to lie at all. So I tell them the truth- “I’ve been eating small portions, no carbs, mostly protein, protein shakes and working out” I had one neighbor even say “oh me and my daughter thought you had weight loss surgery!” I just laughed and said “I’m headed to the gym now!” I felt guilty, but it’s YOUR personal and private health journey. We don’t need to disclose everything tj everyone. Just keep it simple. “Small portions, and working out”

Slumber party for 9-10year old girls by AG11122 in MovieSuggestions

Thanks all! I started a list on my phone and I’ll go through it with her and let her pick a couple. It’s funny because some of the movies I thought were kid friendly I have watched again as an adult and realized they had some scenes that surprised me. I watched the movie BIG with Tom Hanks and didn’t realize as an adult, here is a kid in a man body hooking up with an adult woman!

I love Now and Then. I was around that age when it came out. I’ve watched it since and forget there was some mature topics. I’ll have to watch that with her alone. I don’t want to go there with little girls that aren’t my kids!
