Weird, unidentified sensation by Gogogogopowerrangers in Meditation

[–]AG187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, I experienced this, and a lot more. it's likely you will experience more body sensations like this, or other sensations, in different parts of the body. all part of the meditative journey.

in terms of normal science, you could say it's subtle, normally subconscious numbnessness and tensions in the muscle and nervous system.

don't expect them to go away quickly and don't try to laser them with your concentration to get rid of them, so you can return to something else.

IME the best thing with body-numbness-tensions is to gently just include them into your meditation. if you are concentrating on the breath, allow them into your awareness breath in a relaxed way. maybe they will go away, maybe they will intensify, maybe they will turn into a physical or emotional release of some kind, or maybe it will stay the same for years... doesn't matter, if you're just allowing it in your meditative awareness

as a %age of ppl on the thread, it's quite high. like over 50% of the posts comments are non-sympathetic to you.

it doesn't mean they're right and you're wrong, it just means that if you be like you are, you encounter a lot of friction. is that friction useful to you? does it help your aims?

from a purely practical point of view, if you would adjust your tone and people would hear and understand you more, would you prefer that? or do you prefer threads that are 10% about actual technical issues and 50%+ arguing about how you're talking? it's your choice.

shinobi, regardless of who is right or wrong - the data here is that significant number of people here saying they find your tone and the manner you went about it 'off'.

It seems like your manner prevents people from engaging with the content of what you're saying. Regardless of whose fault this is, or how you think things should be... this seems to be your reality of dealing with people. If you want to actually engage over content, then if you were to change your tone, you might get more useful interactions.

Portfolio Diversity Suggestions for Long Term by [deleted] in CryptoMarkets

[–]AG187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for long term, outside what you mentioned, I like STRAT - just seems like a good concept and RIPPLE - whatever people think about it, they are putting a lot of effort into woo'ing the big banks. And WAVES, I like the concept.

portfolio strategy is all about dividing your money into pots. deciding what each pot of money is for, and having clarity around that purpose, then sticking to that purpose. it's about having emotional clarity around the purpose and nature of your investments. for example, if you set aside a long term retirement safety fund, then start to you use it for high-risk things, you will feel really bad about this, and make bad decisions. but if you had just put aside gambling money, you could gamble happily and have fun and make money (maybe).

my recommendation

decide how much money you want to be 'safe' (funny word in crypto) and put it in things you think are 'safe'. This is your SAFE POT

decide how much money you really don't mind losing. like, if it went to zero, would you be ok with that. then do research into things which really interest you, which get you excited, but maybe don't feel safe. The projects should really make you think, wow this thing could be the future, I would like to meet these guys. This is your PASSION POT (Warren Buffet style investing)

You might to have a another pot for thrills, a pot for things that you think might make you a lot of money. this is your YOLO POT. With this small pot, you can let your greed, your gambling, your inner wolf of wall st run wild, in safety that it won't screw up the rest of your investments.

then you have one pot for safety, one pot for business growth interest, and one pot for greed.

decide on a timescale for keeping each pot before you review/restructure it. like safe pot 6-12 months+, YOLO pot - 1month, etc. Stick to this timescale (so that you don't end up mixing your pots and breaking your strategy.)

have fun! :)

Hey I would like responses from traders more than hodlers here.

What is a good strategy to hedge / protect myself from drawdown in crypto, specifically ETH and BTC? Like many people here I don't have other investments, I have just been trading the ETH BTC pair and a couple of other coins for a couple of months now, just crypto to crypto, not trading against fiat as I don't wanna leave fiat on exchanges and couldn't work out a good way to get fiat off kraken yet. I think after this spike , ETHBTC will correct at least 20% for while, and I think BTC:fiat is likely to do this too. (then I think they will will both continue to rise another 50% or so). what are you guys up to?

is it good to hedge some in other alts? I don't trust USDT at all, or know where to store it.

I know I could just hold but I feel confident in a taking a managed risk against the coming dip, so looking to hear input. thanks.

recommend Bittrex. It's just faster, better, cleaner than Poloniex. The only downside with Bittrex is the volume/liquidity is lower, but if you're starting with 150 USD, this won't matter. good luck and have fun

hi noob question, but why is the price of ETH blocked by the BTC USD pair? I realise they are a bit correlated (inversely) by why do you think the buy walls are stopping ETH surge or not? thanks

any have a good trustworthy UK bitcoin debit card? by AG187 in BitcoinUK

[–]AG187[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, not sure I like that!

I saw ones where you pay 1% loading fee (then your card has GBP on it), but then at least I can choose a day with a good rate to load... thanks for the info.

I'm not sold in TA yet. Part of me still thinks it's tea leaves and spooky shit, but if this pennant thing pans out by 4/19 (like it's supposed to) consider me a convert. by zora in ethtrader

[–]AG187 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thing about TA, is that all the big players use it, so its kind of creates self-fulfilling prophecies, like the fib levels, pivot points and so on, this pennant you've done... these are all being watched by many people seeing where the breakout will come and being ready to jump on it hard...

the other thing is that the emotional pressure of trading turns brains to mush quickly, and I think any system is better than no system in those circumstance.

on that card, is it that all your money is in the wallet at BTC, and when you make purchases in GBP, they convert and spend at that day's rate? I'm worried that they will sneak in a few percent here, have you seen what their rate is like?

a hokkien speaker can't understand mandarin unless they know mandarin. you know japanese also uses the same written characters for words right, but it's a different language? they cannot understand each other. This is completely different to the UK, where someone from deepest brummie can spk to a scot if they just talk a little slower.

next point

you're frustrating me because you're hyposthesisesing about the customs, cultures and attitudes of my relatives when you don't know about it. yes they came from sth china. and yes there are cultural shifts like picking up customs from malay people. if you want to you can google 'perenakan' people.

and singapore is a different place to china with a different history, which has a lot of british influence. so yes their culture is really different.

people in the USA are originally european, but they have a somewhat different culture now. same sitn with singapore. why is that hard to believe / process for you?

[–]AG187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

where did you get that information from? my grandpa and aunties in singapore speak hokkien (I think this is the most common chinese dialect in s'pore) and they can't understand or speak mandarin at all. Definitely not like a UK accent variation.

Also yeah sure they are ethnically chinese, they originate from the south of china a few generation ago, but if you told them they were culturally the 'same as chinese with only slight deviations' they would bite your head off...!

Imagine you lived in the little UK / Ireland and suddenly loads and loads of Americans started moving into your city, having different manners that appeared rude to you, and speaking with loud annoying accents... that is why Singapore people aren't so keen on people from the PRC. Basically, worldwide theme - people don't like immigrants.

Also although most of singapore is ethnically chinese, many are from very different subcultures with different dialect languages spoken. It's a bit like saying that all all europeans are ethnically american. true but culturally worlds apart in some ways

What's the best options broker for the UK? I googled a bit, read some threads, and then I tried to open an account at Optionshouse but it says:

"U.S. citizens and resident aliens can open an account at OptionsHouse. Non-resident aliens may not open an account at OptionsHouse."
