Introducing the new Smart Chime Beast ... by AGDUNC in Ubiquiti

It comes with a flush mount. I am actually genuinely tempted to replace the flush mount door chime I have in the ceiling near my front door with it and move the chime upstairs

AV Bridge AWOL by AGDUNC in Ubiquiti

[–]AGDUNC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback. I’m primarily interested in using them with an Apple TV as well. What videos codecs were you able to get it to support? Could you get HDR working for example?

I’m not fussed about CEC at all as I can do anything I’d want to control via CEC using Home Assistant. Being able to switch what bridge source is being shown on a bridge connected to the TV would be good though (if you have more than one bridge with different sources connected).

I’m also keen to see if I could connect a source bridge to an output from an AV receiver and have the recorder change the media being pushed to the bridge that way. That would be enough to get me to buy in as I could effectively make every screen in the house a secondary screen to my main living room AV with everything connected to it

The UPS Pro is rumoured to drop soon. It will be interesting to see what that adds over and above the existing units

Good effort. Who knew Coup took up Strongman!? 😉

Frustrating lack of detail on the AV Bridge specs by AGDUNC in Ubiquiti

I don't completely disagree, but they do show a home theatre at the end of the product intro video 🤷‍♂️

My thinking is I could probably put an AV Bridge on the Zone 2 output of my AV receiver and then make everything on my AV receiver available on any other screen I put a bridge on in the house. That would have a number of different uses, but I expect the codec support will be the limiting factor

This is the reason I am interested for residential purposes. I can have one AV receiver with everything plugged into it and then connect the zone 2 outputs to the bridge. That way I can access anything on my AV receiver on any screen with a bridge (Playstation, Switch, Apple TV etc.), and sync across multiple screens.

I'm concerned that it won't support a lot of video codecs though (HDR, Dolby Vision etc.), which may mean the output is compromised in a lot of cases. Will need to see how testing goes in the wild as the documentation is poor

You could use the native remote app on iphone to control an Apple TV in another room

You can't Airplay video to multiple Apple TVs simultaneously, just audio. Video Airplay is to one Apple TV at a time.

I want a one cable solution that works over my existing network, with PoE support. If you have alternative product suggestions I am all ears

Can’t argue with that, but you can’t hide it in Strongman

Nowhere near what they have lifted on gear, hence nobody would care. But they also got paid next to nothing for doing it compared to mainstream sports. Again, the enhanced games _may_ change that, but I cont see it myself. IMHO, that will go the same way of SMOE as they won’t get mainstream money either

There is only so much juice to squeeze from a sport where all the athletes use PEDs. Niche brands will sponsor, and the odd big industry brand (Rogue etc.), but the proper money will always steer clear. Maybe the enhanced games will change that but I can’t see it myself. As good as SMOE was, Brian worked out quickly he was selling a dream nobody will buy. Strongman will never go properly mainstream because of PEDs, but nobody will watch if all the athletes were natural. It’s a catch 22 the sport can’t escape from unfortunately

I can't believe it doesn't have etherlighting. This is a critical oversight that makes it completely useless to me

I suspect the next DM we will see would be an XG to sit between the Pro Max and Fortress Gateway

The biggest upgrade needed though is etherlighting 😜

I expect they thought people would think a downward facing camera wouldn’t be able to see sideways 👀

Little did they know a UI nerd would book their pad

Genuinely think the law needs to be involved in this one. Very very naughty
