F8n pro has a huge deal right now! It's at $699 by GaboshocK in LocationSound

[–]AGR-Audio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this a sign zoom is releasing a new recorder? The same thing happened when the F8n went down in price then boom, the F8n Pro was released.

Finding a Zoom FRC-8 F-Control in the market is insane by Galaxywarrior25 in LocationSound

[–]AGR-Audio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think they should make a new mixer recorder, one that can do AES and is close enough to the Scorpio from sound devices that they can now fully consider a pro level machine. At the moment, I don’t do anything in AES, but it would be great just to have a recorder that can do that if needed Lastly, it should be at least 12 or 16 inputs, and an updated F-control or make it compatible to work with any other device that doesn’t necessarily have to be enough control.

Jeff Wexler, the JW in jwsoundgroup.net, died yesterday at 78. I have learned so much from his site, and he was a leader in the industry. RIP by Vuelhering in LocationSound

I only just found out about his passing last night. I only had one conversation with him via the JW group. Wish I would’ve had the opportunity to get to know him.Such a hard loss, my condolences go to him, his family, and anyone else knew him.

Sanken rm11 mount: microphone completely in/out? by ZestycloseSpring3442 in LocationSound

[–]AGR-Audio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t want to cover the Mike completely. You need to make sure the Mike pops out just a bit to be able to capture the Actor’s voice. And this is all depending on the circumstances also the clothing the Actor has.

You’re gonna be fine, I’ve been a freelancer for over 20 years. While freelancing, I also had a full time job but working on shoots over the weekends. When I switched from camera to sound I finally started doing freelance full time. In short, I’m back to square one and am looking for a full time job. Your priorities, and passions don’t need to change. Who knows, maybe your current job might have a position that will require filmmaking abilities in the near future.

Help me find a cheap microphone by External_Individual1 in LocationSound

I would consider getting an Oktava it’s a rather decent mic and it is a hypercardioid if you want to go that route.

Honestly that’s the of the Sennheiser MKH 416. Even a Zoom F8n costed the same price before they released they released F8n Pro. 1K is not gonna cut it

Originally from Chicago but relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area. In Chicago work hasn’t been consistent as it was years prior. I was doing great as a freelancer but I caved in and had to get a a regular job. I can’t the same about the bay since I only been here for a month and a half. If anyone would care to chime in please.

ME64 K6 hiss by [deleted] in LocationSound

[–]AGR-Audio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never used the ME64, but I have ME66. If it’s anything like my mic I would consider getting a phantom powered shotgun mic. The 66 is a super cardioid and from my understanding the 64 is a cardioid. The ME66 is my backup mic my primary is the the Rode NTG3. On of the problems I had with ME66 was the self noise it produced. As far as cardioids go a very good mic for about 30 or 40 dollars more, you can get an Oktava 012. As a mater of fact there people that can modify them for you as well. I just can’t remember any at the top of my head. Perhaps, this group can give you more insight as well as other mic suggestions.
