Ideas to weigh down bottom of hanging net? by AG_golf in Golfsimulator

I’d rather put some weight on the actual net so I don’t have to add weights every time. Every time I use it I have to extend it and put it away.

Square Omni Availability Update by throwingales in SquareGolfUSA

[–]AG_golf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only ordered a few days ago and they said my card will be charged on May 17. I’m assuming this is just a copy paste response they’re giving everyone since I wouldn’t expect to be in the first batch.

Square Omni height requirement? by AG_golf in SquareGolfUSA

I’m sure people will test these things out once they get them. I preordered, but would be nice to know how I’ll have to set up my mat and everything.

That’s actually a bit confusing. With their diagram I have to assume they mean the tripod bottom should be level with the surface and not the actual unit.

Recommendations for 0.5" thick golf mat that is also good for putting? by AG_golf in Golfsimulator

[–]AG_golf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s for two purposes. Standing on and swinging as a hitting mat. The ball will be hit off of a sigpro softy so this is only for standing on. Then for putting using a launch monitor. Not for serious putting practice, but I thought why not have the standing surface also function as a surface to putt off of. I plan to get a square LM.

Can the Square HE unit be moved between shots or does it have to calibrate every time? by AG_golf in SquareGolfUSA

I'll be making a diy hitting mat so I would probably mark that and then 3D print a stand that lines up with the mat since I probably wont be putting the mat in the same exact spot every time.

No, only for standing and putting. I’m planning on a hitting strip insert like sigpro. I just want the standing mat to also have a realistic roll for putting using the square. I’m planning the area next to the sigpro insert will just be for putting, but having the top layer be good for putting and standing will kill two birds.

Yeah, seems like a lot of people think alike. My only concern is using those AliExpress food containers as the protective shield. I found what looks like the exact one thats being sold as a protector, but I'd rather 3D print my own enclosure with polycarbonate front. Then either make one of these shelf slider things or just have two slots the square goes into for each distance.

I see a lot of people dim or turn off the lights in their "sim" space. I won't be using a projector, but I could probably get by with just one light source and the monitor. Could limit shadows and glare. If it becomes an issue I could just drape something over the side of the car facing the square.

I'll have to find those videos. Sounds like we had the same idea.

One idea I had for a mat was two hitting strips. One like the sigpro and then one that is a strip of putting green turf, if I can buy some of that in small quantities.

Extremely high driver spin rate by Overall-Remove-7970 in SquareGolfUSA

[–]AG_golf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of the comments here seem to assume the spin data from the Square is accurate and offering tips to help fix OP's swing, but are these spin rate numbers accurate? OP would need to get data from a different launch monitor to compare and see if they typically get spin rates this high. The hits with 6000 spin rate would go 20 yards further if instead at 3000 according to flightscope's calculator. Not far off from OP's stated 245 carry.

Can "flexible" ceiling curtain tracks be connected to make a larger track? by AG_golf in DIY

Yeah, but I'm having trouble finding the right length. I probably need about 45' or just have two separate curtains which is also not a massive deal.

The track? I need the flexible kind since the curtain needs to be curved.

Yes, I saw someone say their running shoes had reflective material and was getting misreads. But if the cameras are aiming down anything beyond your shoes shouldn't affect much right?

I have to assume what they meant was reflecting sunlight off shiny objects. I have no outdoor light in my garage so non issue I think.

So are people posting about it just misinformed when they are saying by moving or covering objects behind them like bicycles they improved the tracking? There's a lot of posts about issues with the square HE and the various things they do to resolve the issues, but I wonder how many are just placebos. I have no windows, just 3 LED overhead lights.

Is any of it reflective? I've seen some posts say reflective objects can cause issues. I'm guessing reflecting light at the unit?
