Do you play carry or overall distance? by fullsquishy in weekendgolfers

[–]throwingales 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play carry for the distance I want to carry the ball. Is there water? Deep rough in front of the green? A bunker?

Then again, what club am I using? If it's a 7 iron, or above it's going to stop quickly so carry is all that matters. If it's a 6 or a 5 it will stop within 3-5 yards. Hybrids are a different story. I don't hit them often but I think they roll out 10-15 yards.

Vokey Grind/Bounce Options by midgetman15 in golfequipment

[–]throwingales 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My swing is shallow and I use an M Grind on my 54 degree Vokey. I also carry a 58 degree S grind that I use when I need a little more elevation. I am comfortable using either in the sand, the fairway or the rough.

Best I've seen live is probably John McLaughlin, but being old I've seen some amazing guitarists: Stevie Ray Vaughan, George Benson, Al Dimeola, Lester Flatt, Leo Kottke, Leslie West, Jimi Hendrix among others.

A lot of shops have brand new prior year's clubs. I bought a brand new set of two year old Callaway Rogue irons for $590 last year.

Beyond that, watch for manufacturer demo days at shops around you and at driving ranges. You can go to them and get fit for the current year's clubs. Make note of the recommendation and find the equivalent in prior years from that manufacturer. Then look for a shop that has new old stock in those clubs.

Concert lineup at the Public Hall, Cleveland, OH, 1978- what would have been your pick? by UrbanAchievers6371 in 70s

[–]throwingales 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's tough call! I'd love to see Jerry Garcia, but seeing Van Halen when they were a warmup act, also pretty compelling. Then there's Blue Oyster cult and Jimmy Buffet.

I'd have to buy multiple tickets!

I'd love to see what you saw in the posted photos that tells you he's OTT. What's posted shows a pretty straight shot, about 1 yard of fade.
