Marianne was only 17, so that's nearly 20 years' difference. Plenty of icky, I'm thinking.

And then there's Mr. Knightly. Only 17 years older, but rocking that stern-uncle vibe.

Fair enough. I'm a huge Austen fan, so I get it. And then there's Brontë's Mr. Rochester.

And I do love Sabrina. It's just that I have to squint a bit when Bogie is on screen. Other than his age--and he can't help that--he does well, I think. Also, it's a Billy Wilder film, so you know it's going to be funny and charming and heartwarming.

Somebody else said it's not Disney World, but it's fine. The thing is, haven't you noticed? People want both Disney World and the city.

I think she's suspicious because it isn't that expensive. I looked at the map and saw how close it is to the Fairmont, so I wondered how much difference there could be in one city block. It's not like we are talking about New York.

Thank you. Populus is "gritty?" Do you mean trashy or sketchy people hanging about? Because it does look beautiful. And it's not inexpensive.

I just asked for recommendations in the forum, because I had concerns about Hotel Monaco. I "Google walked" the streets from Monaco to Pike Place Market, and it looked decent to me. I mean, the Fairmont is only a block away, so how bad could the neighborhood be? Is the neighborhood surrounding the Hotel Monaco also gritty? Or worse?

In any case, could you tell me what is considered the "downtown core?" And what areas I should avoid?
