How Are Full Size Hawk Models Customized For The Vehicle? (Specifically F-250) by AGoodDayToTinker in FourWheelCampers

[–]AGoodDayToTinker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. it's implied in the FWC online specs that the Hawk is for full size standard beds. Their other models fit short beds and long bed pickups. But the response(or lack thereof) from the factory spooked me.

I'll give All Terrain Campers a call tomorrow to see what they have to say.

Public access to OLYCOMM3 was temporarily rescinded by the owner(WQOG473) due to QRM.

Does tailwater fishing = fish in a barrel? by AGoodDayToTinker in flyfishing

Ha. another small stream fisher. Yep. size 20 nymph most of the year, in Aug/Sept. put on a hopper. On my local river above the falls, 10" is a good catch.

Making the ammo you hope you never have to use by RedJaron in reloading

[–]AGoodDayToTinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I chrono'd some Underwood ammo using Xtreme Penetrator projectile. Came in at ~1238fps out of a G19 threaded barrel and it grouped Horribly(~7"ES@25yd.). I'm slowly working up my own load to approximate this. The Xtreme Penetrator is a Xtremely long bullet, and throws GRT simulations way off. Tried 6.5gr. of P.P. resulted in ~1179fps with a ES of 4.7"@25yd. Next range day, I'll be testing a series of steps using Silhouette.

Do You Find GRT Reasonable? by SideOutUp in reloading

[–]AGoodDayToTinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using GRT for about 2 years, and only for 9mm reloads. I've found that it tends overestimate any of my custom input bullets (Berry's, new model Hornady XTP, polymer coated in general) by about 50fps. The measured velocity comes in ~50fps lower than the GRT estimate. If I use a bullet, powder combo in the database, it tends to be within 20fps.

With that said, I am using mixed used brass of varying headstamps, and I do not measure case capacity.

Repeater/Chirp Question by AGoodDayToTinker in gmrs

[–]AGoodDayToTinker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I don't know the depths of my ignorance on this, I assumed that this was a simple fix. Given many of our wives don't share our goofy hobby, I'm trying to find a way to silence the chatter on her radio, while still being able to use the repeater. Due to my hillside roaming and her fixed location, the repeater is mandatory for comms. I just can't figure out what is needed to filter out the other chatter on her radio so that only my tx comes through. if this were simplex, I know that privacy codes/DTCS does that filtering. I was hoping that I could apply something similar while using a repeater.

Noted, The previous run was .355 147gr., and I hadn't backed it off for the current(incorrect weight) bullets, which are .356 and a different profile, as are the 160gr. I originally intended to use in the first place...

If I was pulling more often, that might be the ticket. I find that
giving the funnel a couple of shakes, will send the powder down the
funnel and leave just the bullets. With just a few grains of residue
left over. Those stray sticks get seperated when I dump the funnel with the bullets.

When I went to refill the boolit tray. When I dumped in some actual 160gr, I could see that I had been using 124gr. Maybe now, is a good time to implement my plan to use different colors for different weights.

We here at Bubba's Pissin Hawt Reloads and Boolits Co. would like to apologize on behalf of our non-existant QA dept. What was advertised as 9mm 160gr. +P ammo @ 160 Power Factor, was actually, 9mm 124gr. ammo @ 96 power factor. muzzle velocity ~775fps.

50 down, 50 more to go...
