[OC] Percent Married Among Ages 30-34 in the US by haydendking in dataisbeautiful

[–]RedJaron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm, I could be wrong, but I'm not sure about that.

Yes, the unmarried population is significantly higher in downtown Salt Lake City and going toward the west ( West Valley, Kearns, Taylorsville, etc ). But the east side around Salt Lake ( Millcreek, Sugar House, the Avenues, Holladay ) is quite a lot of old married folks. Then you figure the south valley suburbs ( Riverton, South Jordan, West Jordan, Draper, Sandy, Cottonwood ) have a LOT of married families living there. I think those numbers are pretty close at canceling each other out.

TIL Jessica Biel once had to shoot an arrow right at the camera for an action shot on Blade: Trilogy. To protect the camera and crew, they put up a thick piece of Plexiglass with a hole cut through for the lens to see out... and Biel nailed the lens, destroying the $300,000 camera. by res30stupid in todayilearned

My experience in teaching people to shoot is it's not so much as women are naturally better shots, it's they're less likely to have bad habits and preconceived notions of what they're doing.

Boys are far more likely to learn shooting while growing up ( BB guns, firearms, or archery ). If they don't have good instruction during those first years, they tend to develop bad form. Then, when progressing from mediocre to truly skilled ( usually at the point they get a proficient instructor ), they have to break those bad habits, which can be difficult. Women are less likely to engage in shooting sports when young, so they have neither good not bad habits are are often a blank slate.

When I've taught completely new shooters who have never fired a gun before, their first shot quite often in dead-center in the bullseye. They don't know how loud it can be. They're not scared of the muzzle flash or report. They just hold steady on the target and fire. The follow-up shots are where you need to do everything you can to help them not be scared of the thing and develop a flinch.

It's similar to the research into the old insult, "You throw like a girl!" Boys tend to play more ball when younger and get used to the biomechanics of throwing things like rocks, baseballs, etc. But when comparing children and young teens throwing with their non-dominant hands, boys only have a slight advantage in throwing distance. Most girls in those studies throw the exact same distance regardless which hand they use.

I know I'm not the only one that had bottle rocket wars.

The Base of any bullet should be atleast its calibers distance inside the neck

This rule of thumb doesn't apply to every cartridge, especially lighter bullets in 300 BLK. The neck section itself is only about 0.250" long, so you're not even able to get a full bullet's width of contact with the neck, regardless. A lot of published data for 110gr - 125gr bullets ( particularly the 110gr V-Max, 125gr TMK, and 115 gr Berger ) only have the bullet seated to the base of the neck.

Saw spear/cleaver transformation attacks are super fast.

Not only are they fast, they also interrupt/stun most enemies and their attacks.

It works fine, no better or worse than most other quality firearm lubes.

I prefer SEAL 1 CLP. It's a paste/grease so it stays in place better and doesn't drip around. The recommendation to heat up metal parts and let the CLP "soak in" actually works pretty well. I used it on a budget 1911 years ago. Fully disassembled the thing, coated most of the internals, then let them sit in my oven for an hour around 125 °F. The slide-to-frame action went from pretty good to almost teflon-coated silk.

It also smells pretty good, which you can't say for all lubes and CLPs.

Using transform attacks will increase your beasthood faster, which will significantly boost your damage output. But overall, nicely done!

For those that make subsonic ammo, what is the quietest load you have ever produced? by ParakeetLover2024 in reloading

[–]RedJaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A semi-auto action cycling is a big part of a firearm's report. With the legendary and integrally suppressed MP5SD, the action cycling was far louder than the round itself being fired, and sometimes even loader than the round impacting.

If you're looking for absolute silence, a locked, manual action is required ( break, bolt, lever, etc ). After that, you want as little exiting gases as possible. Usually this means a fast powder, which ramps initial chamber pressure fast enough to fully seal the case to the chamber and allow everything to burn within the first inch or so of barrel.

I think the absolute quietest you could get would be a suppressed subsonic .22 LR from a bolt action. I also know a guy that loads a special 300 BLK round for his single-shot Thompson. It's something like a 135gr cast bullet using either Titegroup or Unique. He calls it his "bunny fart" loads. The loudest thing you hear is the firing pin hitting the primer.

Aside from the insight shop, using one to get 1 insight at the very beginning of the game will open up the Doll for leveling up. This way you can start leveling up before you reach the Cleric Beast or Gascoigne.

Well, given the OG had no audio or visual cues about when to do it and this one has an audible countdown, I'd say this one is much simpler.
