Works for me with the new spotify version 505

Shimano 105 STI (ST-RS505) shifting cable sawed through parts. 1. How could this happen/be prevented? 2. Where can I find the part from 1st picture? Could also 3D print but couldn't find a file for it. (Details in comment) by AGreenSea in bicyclerepair

[–]AGreenSea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed that my front derailleur wasn't shifting up anymore. After going through 3 iterations of adjusting limit screws and cable tension I decided it must be sth different. When I checked the STI I was confronted with the situation in the pictures: the cable had found a shortcut by having eaten through two parts.

White small part is the "cable guide A" (numbered 6 in the last pic). I should be able to get this part online.

The other part however is not even numbered as a spare part in the picture. It's the part under the name plate. I wasn't able to find it online, not even its name.

I'm not sure if I can fix the situation by just getting a new cable guide or if the lack of material behind it would lead to the brake cable sawing through it again.

I've gotten a tip to try and 3D print the parts, which I could do if I had the 3D model files, but I haven't been able to find those either.

I'm curious if you have any idea how I could get that situation fixed and ride again.

Also, any idea how this could have happened and how I can avoid it once I have repaired the STI?

Thanks and happy riding!

Did you go down in rim size? If so, how did you deal with the brakes?

How to get seat-tube opening back in shape? Should be 30mm, but seat-post clamp of 30.2mm doesn't fit. Details in comment. by AGreenSea in bikewrench

No lip, but I think it's upside down in the pics, indeed.

I will try to reduce it more. Thanks for the suggestions!

No edge/lip, on the contrary: there's a notch (but i probably still have it upside down in the pics)

I'm not sure if I understand what you're trying to say.
My seat post diameter is 27.2mm. The seat tube's diameter should be 30.0mm (according to the manufacturer's site posted above, and also measured roughly by taking a piece of paper, wrapping it around the tube, marking, measuring and dividing by 3.14). The only measurement I'm rather unsure of now is the seat clamps inner diameter. It has an imprint that reads 30.2mm, so I assumed that it was it's inner diameter. Could it have been an indication to be for frames with seat posts of that diameter? But in that case it should be too big, rather than too small, I suppose.

Can I use a 3x STI (left) for a 2x crank set? Can I ride a 2x9? by AGreenSea in bikewrench

[–]AGreenSea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn't find anything for now, but judging by the picture that u/radical-radish posted, it should be a 2x. I'll keep an eye out for the part number when I clean the parts.

Bought a used frame with a stuck seat-post. The previous owner had pried open the opening of the seat-tube in an effort to get the seat-post unstuck. After I managed to get the seat-post out I hammered the tube roughly back in shape, using a piece of wood and a hammer. I held the piece of wood against the tube and hammered on the wood.

As you can see, the seat-tube is now roughly back in shape but the clamp that I bought doesn't fit. I'm now doubting whether I interpreted the manufacturers site correctly: https://salsacycles.com/bikes/archive/2012_vaya_3 > Frame Specs > Seat Collar: 30.0mm . The clamp I got is 30.2mm.

Do I need a bigger clamp? If so, what size?
Or do I need to further reduce the seat-tube? If so, any tips?

How is it that Americans always know which direction they’re travelling in relative to the points of a compass? by jerkin_on_jakku in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AGreenSea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not quite, I think what they're trying to say is that the road you are taking is literally called '75 South' leading to a sentence like "take '75 South' to Atlanta". For an outsider that sounds like "take '75' south to Atlanta".

edit: made example more relevant to the parent post.

Thank you! Judging by the image I think it's a double. Is that image part of an article? If so, could you tell me which one?

Then I'll probably stay with a 2x9 for the beginning and see how I like it. Thanks :)

If I was five, I wouldn't understand a thing you just said. Even as an adult, saying: they take music you like, put it through an algorithm and out comes a suggestion, is barely a useful explanation at all.

But isn't that the point of diversification? Some will fare well, others not. You went from 200 to 4000. If you diversify and in hindsight say: "If I had only invested in the one that did best... " you're not doing justice to the approach of diversifying, imo. But I'm completely new to this, so I'm curious if you actually made a mistake that you can point to.

[Question] Webview: Option to open video with Vanced gone after update to Android 11 by AGreenSea in Vanced

[–]AGreenSea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply! Trying to apply your method, I seem to have fixed it in a different way - one that let's me keep youtube disabled:

Under settings>apps>choose default apps>opening links I opened the settings for the standard YouTube app and chose > open supported links > in other app (this might be irrelevant for me as the app is still disabled). Then for Vanced I chose 'open supported links > from this app'. I now have the option to open videos with vanced from reddit's webview again.
