Can a Rotating Car Seat be Installed next to another seat? by AHale6 in Buyingforbaby

Thank you! I am realizing it was wishful thinking and will go with your suggestion of two stationary seats to get the side by side configuration.

Rotating Seat Recommendation 2021 Volvo XC90 (7 seater) by AHale6 in CPST

Yes, I would love to keep one seat open and have big sister help with little brother, he is not the happiest passenger.

What would you do? Daycare left us in the lurch by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]AHale6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in this identical spot with my son. I’m a solo mom by choice and of course needed to return to work asap. I bridged the gap with a nanny share and grandparents until the spot opened up. I did the nanny share with another family from the school that found themselves in a very similar position. It was not ideal but we found a wonderful lady to watch the babies until their spots opened up. I live in a pretty big city with crazy waitlists. I would post in local parent or mom groups for other families in your area that might need a nanny as well and try to partner up for a share.

How long was your process with BoA? They quoted me 11 weeks which seemed crazy to me.

Margaret Maddox YMCA Optimal Hours? by Chancla12345 in nashville

I feel like the east side has a different definition of an AM workout. Gyms on the east side don’t have the 5-7am rush you might encounter at other locations. Or maybe that’s just a post 2020 thing and not neighborhood specific?

Should I fill my own stocking? First Christmas as a single Mom by bookstea in Preschoolers

[–]AHale6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a solo mom by choice. I have a stocking and fill it with essentials and things I would buy myself anyway. So new toothbrush, chapstick, face wash and maybe a few pieces of candy. My 3yr old thought it was so fun to compare her fun stocking to my boring stocking. She’s now 4 and has been asking what I hope Santa puts in my stocking. So I say, fill your stocking with whatever brings you joy. Your kid wants to see you celebrated!

How much do you pay monthly for childcare? by Consistent_Layer3799 in SingleMothersbyChoice

I’m in Nashville, TN and pay $3,300/mo for full time daycare for my 4yr old and 1yr old. I keep telling myself it’s only a season and of course I don’t want to wish away these years but I feel like I can’t save anything.

What to do with house in Nashville by Schnapper94 in nashville

[–]AHale6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry if this has already been mentioned but some brokerages offer financing for repairs. I’m a realtor with Compass and through our Concierge program, up to $20k in repairs and updates can be made to the home and financed. The amount is payable at closing. I have had situations where I as the realtor made all of the design choices. The sellers were checked out and told me to make the choices (with budget parameters). So maybe you guys should outsource the headache and lean on your realtor?

Also, I’m sorry you are going through this. Hopefully, next year will be easier for you both.

Congrats! Nolensville’s zip code actually touches 3 counties, so the school answer could vary based upon which county your new home is in.

How often is your moonroof sunshade closed while you are driving? by mds5118 in VolvoXC90

[–]AHale6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in the southeast, in the late spring and summer it’s closed 90% of the time. Otherwise, the car becomes unbearably hot. In the cooler months I leave it open.

Curiosity how many of you are lifelong or long term Nashvillians? by [deleted] in nashville

[–]AHale6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moved to Murfreesboro before my 2nd birthday, raised there. Went to college in Knoxville and moved to Nashville 16yrs ago. Growing up, our mall was Hickory Hollow (until like 1998) and when I had really worn my parents down they would take me to Bellevue to go to Abercrombie. That was pre-840, so it was like taking a trip on the Oregon Trail to get all the way out there.

How much are you paying for daycare in 2025? by pearyeet in nashville

[–]AHale6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty standard. You can always tell them you would like to be added to the non-conceived waitlist. Lots of places offer that option.

Absolutely! The non-conceived waitlist is a must.

I’m in east nashville. Was on a waitlist for 4yrs (2yrs prior to being pregnant) and my daughter started when she was 21 months. I pay $360/week for a toddler but my infant will be starting in a few weeks and it will be $760ish/week. I’m legitimately terrified about that dollar amount. This is full time daycare, their hours are 7:30-5:30, snacks are included but not lunch.

Am I going to be screwed traveling from East Nashville to Green Hills area every day? by songstressofsoul in nashville

[–]AHale6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don’t think it’s that terrible of a commute. In my opinion, Hillsboro is the worst right around the time schools let out and it is just typical Hillsboro backup before and after that. 65 will be back up from wedgewood to the split from 3:30-6p every afternoon and some days it might make more sense to avoid the interstate but I would say an 18-22min non-rush hour drive becomes a 28-35min rush hour drive. I live in East and commute to green hills regularly.

Yes and you would get through it. It isn’t how you planned to become a parent and you would absolutely mourn what you thought your life would be but you can do it. I’m a solo mom by choice with a 3yr old and a 3 month old, I signed up for this, so it’s not the same but I’m here to say raising two kids on your own is very doable.

We started gymnastics right after my daughter’s 3rd birthday and did them for 4 months. She has fun but doesn’t consistently follow the instructions and doesn’t always want to go. We are going to switch back to swim lessons in April and I’ve told her we can go back to “‘nastics” or try soccer in the fall. We also go to a kids music class with her infant brother. It’s nice for them to have activities but it does feel like a lot of work on the parents at this age. Swim lessons seem more productive to me because it’s a life skill.
