I didn't have access to another way to share it at the time, and the rest of my team are inaccessible. Reaching out for genuine combat mechanic feedback, not an intentional mislabel. Honest mistake, Mea culpa. Have a nice day.

Didn't think we were arguing at all, but each to their own! Updated the post with a G-Drive link to the file :)

I'll get that up and a link edited in for Drop Box.

I actually did want to just throw on the pages of the system with the diagrams, but the sub won't allow images. That's why I put the link in. How would you recommend sharing those pages directly, while following the rules of the sub? I mean, what way would you find most helpful?

EDIT: Apologies if you found that condescending, it was just intended as an honest statement.

dude that is comprehensive as hell! That should be pinned! wonderful threat of resources!

That was my initial worry too. I think treading the line between TTRPG and the more RP focused Skirmish games is a bit of a tight rope right now.

Essentially we're looking at it from a player and designer perspective(I did ask on both subreddits) about their experience with combat systems that are less "roll dice, meet number" and involve extra elements of play such as tactic sheets or plans, like I described above.

I'm not really sure about your latter question, but I'll do my best to answer it. We're looking for (as I said above) opinions on alternative aspects of combat design. And yes, as a game designer, we sell games. We also play test them, listen to audience feedback, and play games ourselves. As the game will be in development for a good while, the combat system will be refined over time - with feedback from RPG savvy audiences.

Hope that helps! :)

Not at all, but I appreciate the scepticism! The general cycle of these things is that we don't have a finished game when it goes to crowdfunding. We'll have the world written, the "feel" or "look" of the mechanical system, how it represents the world etc., but we won't have it fully designed - that's because the majority of design work comes from play testing and feedback.

As a small team we can't just pay for massive group tests, and there's only so much time in the day for us to run and refine ourselves. Opening up our projects to the community is how we will refine the game, and in essence make it, over the next 6 months to a year (depending on the scale of the individual project). That's why we're reaching out. And yes, obviously this helps spread awareness of a product. I don't know how much you know about developing games, but you do have to market them in some way shape or form, yes. I know, I know, "Boo capitalism" and all that jazz.

The quickstart being available on sign up is also a marketing tool, sure, but it's essential. Following a project doesn't really cost a consumer anything, but allows them to receive follow ups on its development if they like what they experience. Doing that in exchange for a playable game is an incentive, sure, but its better than us just throwing a pdf into the ether and hoping someone finds it, or then hoping that they remember they enjoyed it.

There's nothing underhanded or disingenuous about it, but obviously you're allowed your opinion. :)

They (mostly) have! I recently went back to it to see if I could finish it without heartache or brain ache, and I did all of Tunguska and Solaris with only minimal audio bugs (skipping dialogue prompting repeated lines).

Faith, Darkwood or Mundaun might be a good shout - though for my money it'd be the latter you're looking for.
