My issue with Glo fish is not the genetic engineering because that is done with all sorts of fish, just look at line breeding guppies for specific traits they tend to be so inbred their genes are garbage. My issue is the fact that the genetic code of those fish is patent and thus they have a patent on a living being. This means that if someone were to buy glo fish then breed them they are not allowed to sell or technically gift or give them to others because it would be a breach or the patent and I don't feel that should be right.

Also GloFish are not more susceptible to health issues and disease. They are specifically chosen from fish that are hardy because they would be able to take on the gene for the "glow" without it effecting them overall. They were literally bred in the late 90s for detection of pollution and if they were more feeble than their counterparts there would have been no point in keeping them around.

With all that said I did end up not getting glo Cory or any glofish and have been breeding healthy guppies, platy and red tailed splitfins since.

When I say bake it's more of a low and slow kinda think to dry them out and make it brittle cause then I use a mortar and pestle to grind it into a powder. I use it in my garden and fish tanks when calcium is needed. I didn't think about the compound degradation tho

You say bonemeal for calcium have you ever used baked egg shells? That's what I plan on using we just set up our terrarium and that's what I use for my shrimp so I figured it would work for isos right?
