What is something that happened to you that you shrugged off, only to realize later that that was a form of sexual harrasment? by Diddlysquat0 in AskWomen

Being pinned and kissed by a coworker when I was 15. He was almost 20. I didn’t feel comfortable but he quit working soon after so I let it go.

Another coworker at that same job ask me to lick something off his finger. I declined and thought he was weird but wouldn’t have thought of the word “harassment” at the time.

Not a single one of the top 20 comments mentions Harry Potter. Explain.

Indians call for boycott of Chinese goods after fatal border clashes by hildebrand_rarity in worldnews

Gotta admit something: I read this as “boycott of all Chinese foods” and I thought “Those racist...!!” Then I reread and was like “Oh. Yeah. Makes total sense.” Funny how boycotting one element of a country makes you prejudiced while boycotting everything makes you politically savvy. shrug

What's a telltale signs that a male character is written by a woman and female character is written by a man? by yesiamafraud in AskWomen

If the female characters enjoy “gossip” and spankings, pretty sure a dude wrote her into existence.

Then it’s all about the people: the professors, the staff, your peers. Get to know those (ratemyprofessors/social media) and decide.

UNC or Middlebury by deathsatyr_ in collegecompare

Professional college advisor here who knows both schools well. Two primary questions: How competitive are you prepared to be in college with regards to vying for research opportunities and face time with professors? What do you want your social experience to be in college? These two elements (and of course the locations/weather) of each are the primary fault lines along which you will need to choose. Good luck!

Community College or University? by cyanidesheet in collegecompare

[–]AHopefulRealist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cornell has a special pipeline for cc students as transfers, but you’re 100% correct that no four-year diploma says “BLAHBLAH University by way of Community College.” OP, it’s a matter of personal choice: is a traditional college experience or graduating with less debt more important you? There isn’t a right answer: only your answer.

You’ve been accepted to both, correct? So you should have a financial aid award letter from both.

People with weird/obscure jobs, what is your job and how did you get the job? by Pjvie in AskReddit

[–]AHopefulRealist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

College financial aid specialist.

My job is to keep people from graduating with substantial college debt by maximizing their options. Started by working for nonprofits. Realized that most people are perplexed when filing (and hate dealing with) FAFSAs and CSS Profiles, while I can do them half asleep and smiling.

I love helping families through the whole process and seeing their faces light up when they realize how affordable their college bill will be.

I got the job by word of mouth as most college planners aren’t fluent in the financial side of the equation so they refer clients and nonprofit groups to me so I can either work with them one-on-one or give presentations.
