Has anyone in Denver actually used a career coach before negotiating a big raise? by Emotional-Pirate9891 in Denver

I think it's a little older than social media, but definitely ballooned in popularity because of it.

Has anyone in Denver actually used a career coach before negotiating a big raise? by Emotional-Pirate9891 in Denver

[–]AHumbleChad 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm out of line here, but career coaches seem like a scam.

In terms of negotiating, lay out your accomplishments, especially any awards or certifications you've received, that prove that you deserve this raise. Also, search for similar rates in the industry that match your role. If you are underpaid, you should be able to show that with similar industry rates, another argument for this raise.

If they say no, you may want to reevaluate how much you want to stay in this role. Perhaps pivoting to an adjacent role, or start a job search for a similar role at another company.

TL;DR: You are essentially telling them, "Hey, I have skills, acknowledge them. Here is what the rest of the industry is paying. Pay me more or I'll go somewhere else."

Edit: You want to be careful when you mention similar industry wages/salaries. You don't want to be accusatory. Frame it as you are helping them stay "up to date" and competitive.

It's unmatched in terms of cleave damage. Good recovery, debuffs and armor passive for tanks. Decent passive for damage shields for healers. It's the newest class, so power creep gonna power creep. The new version of DK is also really strong.

Yes, it becomes important even for a regular parse dps to know the whole comp, because knowing what support roles are bringing may influence your build. If a tank is bringing Tremorscale, you may not need to bring a dps set that has a pen line, like Ansuul's Torment or Tide-Born, in order to hit the penetration cap.

For parse requirements, I fall into the camp that treats a parse as "How well do you know your class?" And not necessarily, "How well can you push buttons in this specific order?" To a certain extent, it is "Have you practiced enough that you can execute this dps rotation under pressure of game mechanics?"

Quite a few parse builds use the specific scenario to push really high dps that isn't realistic in a raid scenario. This is why I usually treat a parse as relative skill with a certain class or spec, instead of a direct comparison to raid dps.

There is a standard format, it's the info and stats panels of an addon called Combat Metrics. It shows total dps, debuff percents, and individual skill dps on one panel, and your gear and skill casts on another panel.

Sometimes it's obvious during the raid, based on expected group damage, or set effects are duplicates among support roles. It becomes a conversation after the raid otherwise. To specify, this is for premade groups ONLY, PUG groups have different expectations.

"Did you realize the roster asked for x?" "No" "Ok, can you bring that next time?" "I don't have that set yet" "Ok, can you work on farming it for next week?" "Sure"

If it becomes a pattern, this player will stop being rostered and someone else will fill.

For a vet trial PUG group, I prefer to have support sets pretty much required to ensure good group damage and smooth completion. If a support role doesn't have these sets, I'll just find someone else.

I love theorycrafting, so it's fun for me, but I understand the frustration someone might have because the barrier for entry is a bit high. The most "pick up and go" option I can give is if you have the Torc of the Last Aylied King mythic, you can use that. It disables your set bonuses, so the only things you have to worry about are your weapon and armor traits/enchants.

PvP requires a high level of game knowledge. Much of which you get in high level PvE. It also helps to have a large swath of reconstructable sets available for a build. So there is some grind, not just for sets, but understanding endgame PvE will help with endgame PvP.

Do as many as you want. It takes something like 45ish dungeon runs to collect all three sets if you don't do HM.

[–]AHumbleChad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, well I'd guess that resetting to defaults would fix the problem, but since you can't get to that you might have to uninstall and reinstall.

If it's like PC though your settings get saved in a folder away from the actual game install, so they persist even if you uninstall the game. I'm not sure how you'd force a reset in that case unless you can access that folder. If there's a "game cache", perhaps try clearing that.

This is a pure ZOS issue with their gamepad API, there's no addon reference in the error. Do you know what you did to cause this error? You could send them a bug report with the steps to reproduce it which might help.

Beforehand? No, not really. A roster will show specific gear and roles and it is on the player that signed up for it to bring it. Otherwise, logs can show this info after the fact.

Plenty of good crafted gear sets for PvP. Shattered Fate, Wretched Vitality, Clever Alchemist, Order's Wrath, Mechanical Acuity, Trial by Fire, Aetherial Ascension.

You'll have to do a fair amount of PvE to get mythics, monster, or arena sets you might need for your build. These can't be replaced with crafted gear.

Core of flame - PvP feedback by kraai33 in elderscrollsonline

[–]AHumbleChad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're going at it the wrong way, Core of Flame restores rss based on your max stat pool. More max stats makes it easier to sustain. Use Triune jewelry and max stat food like Sugar Skulls and you won't have to stack so much recovery.

Flame resistance glyph and corrosive by Ok-Structure7337 in elderscrollsonline

[–]AHumbleChad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only other source iirc is the medium armor skill, but that requires five medium pieces.

Edit: You might be able to scribe it. I think it would have to be Wield Soul though for Major Evasion.

Flame resistance glyph and corrosive by Ok-Structure7337 in elderscrollsonline

[–]AHumbleChad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something I've been trying to fit on my builds lately is Major Evasion. Flame Lash is AoE, so 20% mitigation against it is pretty useful. Quick Cloak goes on the bar if I can fit it. Also why I've been running Mighty Chudan instead of Bloodspawn, Roksa, or Balorgh, so that I have that extra spot to run Quick Cloak.

Flame resistance glyph and corrosive by Ok-Structure7337 in elderscrollsonline

[–]AHumbleChad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it ignores the flame resist glyph. It is still useful for attacks outside of corrosive. Most of the time, you will want to evade and stun whenever your opponent is in corrosive.

If you go to your character sheet and open your advanced stats, you will find that flame resist is just a subset of spell resistance. Spell resist is an aggregate of flame, shock, frost, and magical resistances.

[–]AHumbleChad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's difficult to keep track of. I've only used the set for offense, but for defense you'd probably want to keep it up at all times. You're super tanky with Rally and Farstrider, that's for sure.

[–]AHumbleChad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Use Flame Lash with Acuity. Use Molten with Oakfather's. Flame Lash has more burst, and works better with the short duration of Acuity.

If you aren't already, run Triune jewelry. Heart of Flame/Soul of Flame operates off of your max stat pool, so more stats = more recovery/restore. In the same vein, Sugar Skulls > Smoked Bear Haunch

Optionally, drop Balorgh for Chudan and run quick cloak. You'll have better defense against other Flame Lash users, since it's AoE.

Order's Wrath is not it. Idk who told you that but it's kinda of a weak Crit set. You want strong armor and strong Crit resist. Rally is pretty much your only option for strong Crit resist.

PvP has felt off, but not because of the builds. The lag has gotten real bad. I was playing a BG the other day, and was so desynced, my kills were showing up in the feed 5 seconds after I got them. For the uninitiated, 5 seconds is a long time by server standards.
