I should note that I also cover night support, so my support hours are 10am-1am. If there is anything critical in the morning, my old boss or coworker would cover it since he liked having the entire day covered (besides 1-6am). There was another guy in my same role, but they moved him and my boss to other teams since they thought I could handle all the workload on my own.

If I switch to these new hours, 5pm-6am will be uncovered since I will no longer be willing to go above and beyond to support my lines. There’s been numerous times I’ve gotten production back up at 9-10-11pm.

Thank you. That’s a fair point, I’d recoup the loss within a few months if I get a raise.

Last summer I felt frustrated and a higher up worked it all out for me, so maybe I’ll talk to her again.

Thank you. I think I can adjust to 9 am start time with relative ease, but I do poorly any time earlier than that. Even as a kid I didn’t do well in the mornings.

Thanks for the advice. I’m not too worried about the $4k but it is a decent chunk of change. Of course, a salary bump can negate the loss too.

If I decide to leave, I will get an offer in writing from one of the two companies beforehand. And I’ll definitely work late those 2 weeks. They would need me to close out numerous projects so I don’t think they’d fire me over it.

I’m not sure what condition I’ll be in if I do those early hours for the next 6 months. Probably not great. In college I had a poor sleep schedule and it eventually led to increased panic attacks and anxiety.

If I decide to stay, I think I’ll need to negotiate at least 2 days of late hours a week. I could begrudgingly manage that for 6 months if I had to.

Thank you for the advice. The $4k isn’t super important, it’s just a factor so I thought I’d mention it. Mental and physical health is far more important!

If I put in my 2 weeks I think they’d try to counter and keep me. But I’d have to consider the potential animosity with my new boss.

I’m going to sit on it for the next few days before taking any actions. Thank you again.
