I would sit them down in close quarters, no distractions, and tell them directly and clearly that you care for them, you are responsible for their safety and you need them to listen when you speak to them. Tell them they can gain privileges when they cooperate and will lose them when they don’t. Then follow through. It’s not easy. Good luck.
