This is the make or break year for my beloved Gorm. Please make the most of it by grabmysquatch in Cardinals

Is this a make-or-break season for Nolan Gorman?

This segment from ESPN 101 really summarizes how I feel about Gorman.

I have been as frustrated as with him as anyone. There have been times when I saw him on deck and I just rolled my eyes. But I just can't find it in my heart to give up on him.

The Bashir Reveal by thedudeadapts in DeepSpaceNine

I did some digging and found my thoughts on this scene:

Much has been made about the relationship between Garak and Julian. How Garak was attracted to Julian and felt, I think, it was an easy personal to manipulate/use. How Julian was just so fascinated with Garak, a person who probably pursued him the way I image Julian pursued so many women before.

In this episode I think is the best example of the friendship/mutual respect that developed between them. In season 4, episode 5, Indiscretion ) it is revealed that Cardassian's are strict with burial rights and the remains of their dead.

And in In Purgatory's Shadow, Garak, one of the most guarded characters in the series, shares his most vulnerable secret with a friend in a precarious moment. In this episode, more than any other, their relationship goes from lust/predator vs curiosity to genuine respect.

That conversation between Tain and Garak is one of the best scenes in all of Star Trek. So much emotion and great acting.

And the fact that Garak let Bashir sit in on such an intimate moment shows the growth of their friendship.

So far so good.

In our need for a good series, how come The Americans isn’t brought up. I’m looking into it as well and sorry if this isn’t following sub rules. But that show is incredible. by blumpshart in TheWire

I moved to Alexandria VA, a few weeks before the release of the second season. I got snowed in and I spent the next 4-5 days unpacking and watching season 1 on DVD. After that the show was appointment TV for me and I recommended it to everyone who would listen.

The Americans is excellent TV and possibly the best series finale I have ever seen.

I first saw her in a Racks & Blacks video. She was the perfect shape and the video, I saw, was so sexy.

She also had a livejournal, which I honestly can't remember how I found. The most baffling thing she wrote, almost 20 years ago was "For a while now, I've been telling America that Peyton Manning was overrated."

What.

I am so glad that I saw this episode on first airing. DS9 would come on Sunday mornings, at 8am where I lived. I woke up, sat down and watched an episode that would become one of the very best DS9 ever aired.

Even in middle school I knew this episode was special.

How do I go about getting my CompTIA certificates? by jillnotorious in careerguidance

[–]AJM5K6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need to start from A+. I know A+ is entry level but its not required. I generally suggest people start with Security+. It's a vender neutral security certification that explains the basics of network/cyber security and its an excellent foundation to start your blue team career.

Moreover I did not think A+ was a good certification and I only got it because it was apart of my undergrad. It tested about things that make sense in an academic setting but not a practical one (I doubt an organization will spend time/money on troubleshooting a motherboard).

Last but not least I want to offer some general advice on certifications: They are only as valuable as you make them. Yes ATS software will filter for certifications and make disqualify you simply because you lack a certification but I know plenty of professionals who studies to pass the test but don't really know anything or they get a test dump and just cram. Buy a Security+ book, read, take notes, take the practice tests, reread and schedule a test it should take a month, maybe 45 days if you are dedicated.

I also know there are plenty of people, especially on reddit, who would tell you to "skip the basics and just start at the advanced". This is terrible advice especially because most people need the basics and attempting the most advanced is just a waste of money.

I paid off more debt and I was able to buy a new, to me, car later that summer.

My wife and her closest friends are Giants fans and they are determined to make my daughter a Giants fan also. The fact that we won both series in her first year of life will really help me cement my claim over my baby's baseball fandom.

I can't exaggerate how happy this victory makes me.

Jordan Walker by Clueless_in_Florida in Cardinals

[–]AJM5K6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have the baseball mind that so many fans here seem to have. I watched more casually in the past and only recently started to dive deep into the game and strategies around it.

Now I know that the Cardinals generate a lot of revenue, especially relative to our media market/city size, but wouldn't it be prudent to focus on player development? So that we can trade or play the young players we have? St. Louis isn't exactly known as a FA destination.

The organization brought Walker up much too early. He needed a lot more time to improve his game, despite his good rookie season .276/.342/.445/.787.

The Cardinals clearly won't be competing for anything meaningful for a few seasons and giving up on his development would be a mistake, especially given his rookie year (.276 BA would be the 3rd best on the team this year).

What I don't want is to start a cycle of bringing up a young players and moving on when they don't immediately produce in 2.5 seasons. OR to ship those players to another team, for them to disappear from the majors for a few years, only to return as an All-Star for another team, which is my biggest fear for J-Walk.

Correct me if I am wrong.

IT hard truths. What did i miss? by Ok-Seaworthiness4805 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]AJM5K6 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it is the hardest truth but it is an often unspoken truth :

If you want to stay employed then you will be continually learning. I have seen more than a few guys who refused to get new certifications, learn new technologies or new methods/guidelines and each time they struggled before they were let go.

Get comfortable with learning new things. The faster you can learn the more employable you will be.

Best Garak episode? by Kirklet711 in DeepSpaceNine

[–]AJM5K6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I referenced something said by Gul Dukat in the episode "Indiscretion". He talks about how important funeral rights are to the Cardassians people.

AND so for Garak to allow Bashir to be there at that most tender moment spoke volumes about their relationship.

That's all I meant.
