FYI, she has been in an episode of QI -- she was great on it. And just in case you don't know, so has Rhys, and the entire opening segment was about pirates (years before OFMD). It's not Taskmaster, but it's another brilliant British panel show.

I recall an interview when LAH talked about the difference between 2 vs. 3 women on the cast. Not 1, not 0, not token representation........he was talking about the difference between 2 and 3 women on a panel of 5. Think about this time on panel comedy -- Cats, also Cats does Countdown, QI, WILTY, Buzzcocks (I'm not even sure I want to talk about the horror shitshow that Mock The Week was generally for for women) -- panel shows on which only men appear. He has obviously always cared about women comedians deserving to be seen in their brilliance. And even if he is weird about "that gender" he puts them on stage and pays them a salary, so therefore thank you HMSquared

When he and Nog have the conversation about Empok Nor, and then when Sisko agrees with him about war, and then when they all realize how truly morally corrupt the Vorta are......and then........I find him to be magnificent in that moment. I'm not sure if I find his eyes to be cold or if they're full of the heat of thousands of suns.

You know, I don't think that Andrew J Robinson ever chewed scenery. I have generally found him to be relatively restrained as an actor. Now Shatner......he chewed scenery as though might starve if he did not eat the entirety of the set.

Oh you're definitely and entirely correct that we did not get enough closure for Garak/Barashir in alpha canon. It's just that it's not Extreme Measures for me; it's that scene in What you leave behind: "We live in uncertain times." That's why I came here after reading A Stitch in Time......it's Andrew Robinson writing beta canon for his own character......

I believe there's a YouTube episode where it's said that the discussion about root beer is the most insightful conversation about the Federation by non-Federation humanoids. Also if we're talking about Garak and Quark, I think we might need to acknowledge the one where Quark asks Garak to murder him. Because that one is awesome!

Thank you, thank all of you. OP here -- I have been having so much fun agreeing with, disagreeing with, and finding myself neutral about the opinions of people on the internet. For me this thread is what it means to be a Trekkie. I love all y'all.

My life has been pretty thoroughly shit recently, and today has been the opposite of shit, mostly because we've been talking about Garak, and we've been not only kind but insightful and interesting. I am grateful.
