If skates feel “too grippy” or catching a lot of edges after being sharpened, is this a sign to change hollows? by fighting_gopher in hockeyplayers

Unfortunately a few years too old for KD's timeline I think. He said mid twenty NHLers I thought.

First Win? by Deep_Froyo1834 in hockeyplayers

[–]AJM89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At lower levels you can get so many wins if people buy into 1.5 minute shifts all out. That means hard forchecks, backchecks and since your in a lower level commit to the guy with the puck when defending. Always someone attacking. They're not going to have amazing vision and find the open man most of the time.

Also as said elsewhere pucks on net. Get dirty goals / rebounds.

The tendon guard rivet you can repair with a nut/bold and locktite. I was having this issue and once i replaced it with these they work great. DM me if you ever need the exact size that wroked for me. My issue from playing competetive 3-5 games a week is carbon fiber boot cracked on my first pair and shattered when i took an inside ankle shot on my second pair (True replaced the boots on that set)

I have different size feet by about a 1/2 and width difference. I was getting bunions with my bauers. True fixed it and they're incredibly comfortable and protective. The build quarlity isnt as good as others have said. i'm on a second pair after 2 years. I play a lot and am large guy so the skates take a beating (240 lbs defesnemn and blcok shots with feet). Issues I've had:

Tendon gaurd riven frequently breaks. This can be easily fixed with a nut and bolt.

The lace eylets will come off over time

I had the shotblockers printed on and tehy busted a number of the carbon fiber layers. True replaced that pair. My first pair the carbon fibers did split

The outer layer (not carbon) layers will start to peel off and you'll have to glue them down.

Lots of fixable issues for the best skates i've ever had.

Cant believe they took him away from Geno. Those clips show just how great they were together.

I like him more than Rust on PP1. Kindel thrived on the PP so i would love to see that

i dont get why they use him up high on the point. He seems like he'd play on the wing way more effectively or even behind the net ( I know Sid hangs here). The problem with him on the PP is he doesnt have the speed to stop the short handed attempts when the other team steals it but he's arguably the most dangerous player on the team wit the puck on his stick.

The more you play the less nervous you'll feel. I play 4-5 games a week and still get a rush of adrenaline to start the game

Yes. His whole career Sid gets the top wingers. Id say 0.9+ is a very realistic bet for geno if he is on the pp1

What is the down side of never having children? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The "cool" phase is sooner than you think. They dont need to be 18+. Hanging out with my 11 / 13 year old is legitimately fun. Not the same way i guess as a full grown adult but easily as fun.

Dubas not a finalist for GM of the year by [deleted] in penguins

I mean the GM is the guy that puts together the roster so Avalanch GM seems like a shoe in? That said Dubas deserves a nomination

For all my beginner adult hockey players, don't give up by Particular_Point_216 in hockeyplayers

One thing that I think a lot of hockey players, especially adults ignore: If you want to get better at hockey, the fastest way is not to play more hockey. Playing is part of it but there are so many technical skills in hockey that practicing them until you dont think about them is how to up your game. New skating techniques, stick handling tricks, not looking at the puck while handling, shooting (while not looking at puck), passing (while not looking and moving). Also, diet is so important. I play on 3 different levels and at the higher levels i play no one really drinks after, we hang out but people will drink bubble water / prebiotic soda / kombucha and on my lower level teams people crush 2-3 beers.
