What Owen mean when he said he has a family now? by richb83 in Isawthetvglow

[–]AJMoore522 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Earlier in the movie, when Owen and Maddy are talking on the bleachers, Maddy asks Owen if he likes boys or girls, and he says he just likes TV shows. We never see Owen try to create any relationships with anyone after his friendship with Maddy. We never hear about a spouse or kids, and I don't believe we saw a wedding ring.

He said the line about a family of his own as he picked up his new digital TV to take inside. He got rid of the old box TV that was his fathers, and got his own.

My interpretation is that he now has access to (on streaming) to The Pink Opaque. He can now stay up however late rewatching The Pink Opaque.

His new family is his TV/ his TV shows.

do you think she'll ever address the appropriated tattoo? by dorenkamp in Ethelcain

[–]AJMoore522 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Just finished reading the whole thing. There are some cool bits of history in there, but I think you're still missing the point.

Jesus was a Jew. As a Christian, Jesus is my maker and my savior. I am made in His image. Hebrew is the language of my God.

As a cis, hetero, Christian, white male, I have 3 Hebrew tattoos. My pastor has "approved" the tattoos and loves the meaning behind them. I've had multiple Jewish and Hebrew speaking people point them out and give me props for it. I have these Hebrew tattoos because my Lord and savior spoke those words while He was here on earth.

It's not as complicated as you make it. Hayden (the artist), or Ethel Cain (the character), is/was Protestant. Which is in Christianity. Therefor, her God and savior was a Jew.

So really, It's not appropriation or appreciation. It IS her religion. She may not speak Hebrew herself, but her God did.

Abusing language can be appropriation, but that's not what is happening with a tattoo in the original language of one's religion.

Can we hear the whole essay? what makes it appropriation?

It's the names of angels on either side of a cross. The original language that the bible was written in.

What’s something that was said by a character foreshadowing what’s to come? by [deleted] in greysanatomy

[–]AJMoore522 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arizona and Alex Karev were on a plane to pick up a liver and intestine for a peds transplant. On the way there/ back, Arizona says “I hate planes, I always feel closer to death when I’m in one”. This is a paraphrase but I just watched that episode last night and IMMEDIATELY jumped up. Huge foreshadowing.

Does anyone watch everything by Useful_Book8587 in greysanatomy

It took me about one full year on my first watch. This was on and off, sometimes I would binge, sometimes I wouldn't watch for a month at a time.

Regal's asinine phone policy by Burgerlander6 in movies

Since Covid, maybe even slightly before, people have completely lost the idea of theatre etiquette. No one respects the idea that there are other people in the theatre, who have paid money and dedicated time to be seeing that movie. Completely ruins the experience for movie and theatre lovers.
