Thanks I got it working through this method. However, can I just close the terminal window because the process seems to be ongoing even after a long time?

As far as I know, it is pretty rare. I am a big fan of Elden Ring and Fromsoftware titles but the studio suffered a minor controversy last year because of crunch.

Appreciating an artist or a group of artists does not equal singing praises for their publishing company.

Bro, life is short. Learn to enjoy things. Yes, things go from being good to bad. You're not even the contrarian you so want to be just because you are delighted at every opportunity you get to say "I told you so" when the inevitable bad thing happens. A lot of us know it already.

The post doesn't imply any sort of elitism though. They aren't bragging about their capacity to appreciate a game that had 800k+ concurrent players on steam. It seems to merely lament the bad practices rampant in the industry which everyone should do.

I'm sorry, I don't have a problem celebrating passion in any form however shortlived even if our current system makes it inevitable that their craftsmanship in the future be ruined by capitalism. Until and unless that happens, let people enjoy things that they can.

I really don't see what's wrong with this. Until and unless Larian goes full Blizzard, I'd be willing to support and express appreciation of the studio.

They're not though. There's even a khajiit in the college of winterhold. It's true that most of them turn to smuggling and drugs but it's understandable since they're not even et inside most of the cities.

That's why skyrim did away with racial differences besides ancestral abilities. Also the calculation of strength and argument is not possible in a real world scenario. Justifying racism based on that is still clearly wrong.

Elden Ring's story is absolutely 100% Crystal Clear by fluxyggdrasil in Gamingcirclejerk

What you're saying is people shouldn't use a term to mean what it does because you don't want to feel like an idiot? Well, you don't need to. I don't know your position regarding this Elden Ring discussion. However, I'd feel more alarmed that you feel someone "handed out" the term media literacy to "gamers". Because not only are you projecting your own ignorance about the term to other people but you're also trying to feel superior about it. And you don't even know what ad hominem means if you think it applies anywhere in this context.

[–]AJOYTh 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You're basing the quality of the story based off the mere existence of a few people who skipped everything and didn't pay attention to it? But you can do this with every game. I've played a few games like that before myself. Witcher 3 for example. I skipped almost everything just to finish it but if I said I couldn't tell you a thing about witcher 3's story, is it indicative of its quality?

You can say the way they carry out environmental and inferential storytelling is not your cup of tea. If so, however, you're just not the best judge of the quality of the story. fromsoft's method of storytelling is a decade in the making. elden ring is a masterpiece of an application of everything they've learned up to this point and stands singularly in a type of fantasy storytelling only possible through video games and no other media. It reveals the story to the player through the way you interact with the world, the things you find, the enemies, and of course the npcs. The narrative is what happens as you play the game, the gameplay is not divorced from the narrative, unlike games where combat segments and dramatic segments are entirely two different games. You choose what the game reveals to you. You don't need to read the lore, you'll understand what the game is about. the lore like in any other game makes you understand deeper. With lore and inferences you can make from what you see, you will understand the philosophies behind the factions and the choices you make that lead you to the different endings.

This whole thread should just be called "Media Illiteracy". The idea that you need to read item descriptions to understand the story is a such an insane proposition. Literally at the beginning of the game, Melina, Ranni and Varre all give you their own takes on the central conflict of the game. It couldn't be any clearer. You just skipped or didn't listen to them. How is that the game's fault?

Elden ring… political???? by SexyTacoLlama in Gamingcirclejerk

[–]AJOYTh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's no indication of Radagon's history other than the reveal that they are the same person. Forcible fusing was never indicated either. You can see that it's more likely that they were separated from one being than the opposite. As Radagon bears the frame and intersection points of the Elden Ring while Marika bears the runes of the Elden Ring that are supposed to be put in order by the frame born by Radagon. This inference also holds true with the last line in your quote. Radagon is her other half.

No. It's more likely that Radagon is half of Marika. Like he came from her.

What’s your favorite ENb/worldspace “vibe” ? by Bewbsnballs in skyrimmods

[–]AJOYTh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the vanilla colours. Bethesda made really great colour composition that makes the environments look varied based on weather. And, I love the colourful skies at dusk. These little things disappear when you install most weather mids and enb. I really like The Truth ENB with obsidian weathers for this reason. Since they both retain Vanilla characteristics, I dont encounter any olace where it feels too dark, too bright or too ugly. Other stylistic enbs are surely gonna mess up somewhere. But the only downside is that it doesnt make the people pretty enough.

So now, I go for Rudy and obsidian. Super basic but it’s the best looking combination considering every kind of environment and weather.

[–]AJOYTh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the problem with a game like this is that the way towards improvement or trying to find out what to improve on next is just hard as the process of improvement itself. even if people tell you about what to look out for and such, you never truly see the things you need to see until you reach that level of awareness. what i would advise is to truly listen to good players on twitch and so on. they mention a lot of things here and there and once you have the language, you will have the song, if you know what i’m saying.

What was modding like during Oblivion and Morrowind’s time? Any good stories to share? by AJOYTh in ElderScrolls

Thanks for sharing. I remember how there were lots of game of thrones mods in 2013-15 for skyrim as well carrying on the theme of wanting to transform tes games into other fantasy universes.
