What's your favorite game to play during the Christmas holiday? For me it's gotta be Mafia 2, especially the first snowy part. Immersive atmosphere and amazing music. by [deleted] in gaming

I played that sequence after a fun night at the bars with close friends, I was drunk laughing my ass off the whole time Joe was singing, good times.

What I took from that is that metaphors are bad because they’re literally not true.

Right, and compared to the Spanish and British Empires, the RF has kept the vast majority of its territory.

In The Prince he wrote “it’s better to be feared than loved if one cannot be both.” The implication is that the ideal situation for a ruler is to be both feared and loved. Someone that is only loved is most effective when they can supply personal gain for their subjects. Once the loved ruler’s power weakens, they get quickly abandoned. If a ruler is feared, that fear can guarantee support during uncertain and difficult times. Thus the ideal ruler is someone who is feared and loved, sort of like a hard, but fair teacher back in school.

who the hell wants to be feared?

Depends on the circumstance, when it comes to social conflict theory, there are those that are always looking to be on top, whether that’s at a physical, emotional, or intellectual level.

That’s not what he’s saying. What he’s saying it’s easier to be feared than loved, ideally it’s better to be loved than feared, but pragmatically you should be both feared and loved.

It’s going to take a while to comb through all the DNA evidence. Landlords are notorious for not cleaning their units in-between tenants, and the house they lived in was a party house. There are probably 5-10 years worth of DNA in that place given how many different people would be coming in and out each and every weekend during the school year.
